As a freshman, Mary was named the PSAC 2007 Track Rookie of the Year and received PSAC 2007 Cross Country All Conference honors. As sophomore, Mary was selected for the 2007 NCAA Division II U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team. On February 9, 2008, she and her teammates shattered the all-time PSAC record in the distance medley relay (DMR) by eight seconds en route to winning the event at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. The quartet of freshman Abby Huber, sophomore Shannon Hare, freshman Jamie McCollum and sophomore Mary Dell became the first team in PSAC women’s history to break the 12-minute mark, finishing in 11:59.08. It marked the second record of the season for Mary’s team who broke the school record for the first time on January 25. She also set two individual records in the 800 and 1,000-meter. This team also became the first relay team in the history of the PSAC, indoor or outdoor, to achieve All-American status, as the group placed seventh March 14, 2008 at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships at Minnesota State University-Mankato. The quartet recorded a time of 12:01.38 that netted the team two points.
