SCHOLARSHIP/INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE:

By interning at The Hershey Company, I was able to gain insight into the HR field before I took any major classes, which helped me verify that HR is the career I want to pursue. I work in the staffing department; however I also sat with other departments to learn more about each HR function. My internship is actually part of a scholarship from the Hershey Foods Corporation for students in the College of Business at Ship. It’s a great opportunity to gain on-site experience into my major and received on-the-job training before leaving college.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT SHIPPENSBURG:

Shippensburg offers a number of student internship and scholarship opportunities to help us gain experience and succeed in our future careers.

TWO INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT ME:

I played soccer throughout high school, and my dad is the lead singer in a local band—Cheap Sneakers.

CAMPUS ORGANIZATIONS/SPORTS/ACTIVITIES:

I’m a member of the student affiliate chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) National. We invite speakers from businesses to our meetings to talk about current trends and issues in HR.

COMMUNITY SERVICE/VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: 

Reading at a local elementary school as part of The Big Event (a day were students volunteer their service in the community as a way to express their gratitude to community residents for their support throughout the year).

COMMUNITY SERVICE/VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: 

I have participated in Bowl for Kids’ Sake and have also helped coach a U-12 girls’ soccer team.

WHAT I DO FOR FUN:

Fish, play tennis, go hiking

MY PLANS AFTER GRADUATION:

I plan to get a job in the HR field where I can use my skills and abilities that I’ve learned throughout college. Of course, obtaining a job in the HR department with The Hershey Company would be ideal!
