ASP Summer Bridge Schedule 2017

In addition to the two classes, ASP offers a comprehensive program that consists of group study, individual study skills and various other programmatic activities. Students are usually on campus from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday with an evening activity one night per week. These programmatic activities are mandatory and students MUST attend these in order to successfully complete the Summer Bridge Program. Other activities are also planned for students that are not mandatory. The ASP Director and ASP coaches inform students of the activities that are not mandatory, but participation is encouraged.


Monday June 26 Orientation Day

Tuesday June 27 - Friday June 30 Week 1: Classes held from 10:00am-11:50am and 1:00pm-2:50pm daily

June 28, Relationships and Responsibilities: Students are educated on consent, bystander intervention, and Ship No More as well as cultivating healthy relationships.

Monday July 3 and Tuesday July 4 NO CLASS, Independence Day Holiday

Wednesday July 5 - Friday July 7 Week 2: Classes held from 10:00am-11:50am and 1:00pm-2:50pm daily

July 5, Director's Meeting: ASP Summer Bridge students meet with Director in Shippen Hall Forum

July 6, Party House: Students experience a live simulation to educate them the risks of alcohol and drug use

Monday July 10 - Friday July 14 Week 3: Classes held from 10:00am-11:50am and 1:00pm-2:50pm daily

July 11, Career and Community Engagement Center: Three groups volunteer at either the Shippensburg University Farm, King's Kettle, or Shippensburg Produce and Outreach

July 12, Mike Williams: Diversity workshop

July 12, Director's Meeting: ASP Summer Bridge students meet with Director in Shippen Hall Forum

July 13, Reality Check: Financial literacy simulation with the Career and Community Engagement Center

July 14, Washington D.C. Trip: Students travel to D.C. and visit the National Museum of the American Indian

Monday July 17 - Friday, July 21 Week 4: Classes held from 10:00am-11:50am and 1:00pm-2:50pm daily

July 17, Career and Community Engagement Center: Workshop for on-campus student employment and resume building

July 18 and 20, Career and Community Engagement Center: Three groups volunteer at either the Shippensburg University Farm, King's Kettle, or Shippensburg Produce and Outreach

Monday July 24 - Thursday July 27 Week 5: Classes held from 10:00am-11:50am and 1:00pm-2:50pm daily

July 24, Career and Community Engagement Center: Workshop for on-campus student employment and resume building

July 27, Closing Ceremony - Tuscarora Room
