SHIPBOUND Checklist - for Admitted Students
Completing the application process and meeting all the deadlines can be stressful! Once you have received an official acceptance letter to Shippensburg University, you will need to complete the following forms and submit a confirmation deposit. It is our goal to make your transition to Shippensburg University as seamless as possible, please review the SHIPBOUND Checklist for Admitted Students below:
Activating your SHIP email account: This is one of the most important steps that you must take during your transition to Shippensburg. Activating your account will allow you access to all correspondence from this point forward. You must log in using your Admissions Login ID and Password. After you log in, select your Admissions Term under Processed Applications, then click Activate your Ship Email Address. The system will then prompt you to set a password for your Ship email account.
Logging into Self-Service Banner (SSB) for the first time: Accepted students who have not yet confirmed may access Financial Aid in SSB at https://ssb.ship.edu. Students who have already confirmed may access their Ship email account at http://mail.ship.edu and SSB at https://ssb.ship.edu. You will not be able to send or receive email from your Ship account until you have accepted and confirmed your admission offer.
Enrollment Confirmation Deposit: Students are required to make a NON-REFUNDABLE enrollment confirmation deposit. The deposits are payable to "Shippensburg University" and will confirm the intention of the student to become a matriculated student. Admitted students may go to Check Your Application Status and enter the required information. After your News and Information page appears, click on Pay Advance Deposit. NOTE: Only American Express, Discover, and MasterCard credit cards are accepted with a 2.5% convenience fee. Electronic Checks can also be drawn from your bank account at no charge. You will receive notification if payment has been completed, please keep for your records.
Deposit Deadlines: May 1 or, if admitted after May 1, the deadline prescribed in the offer of admission letter. Extensions of the confirmation deposit date may be requested by sending a letter to the Dean of Admissions.
Housing Options: Each new student is required to complete one of two housing options upon confirmation with Shippensburg University. Students who are planning to live on-campus must complete the housing agreement and submit a NON-REFUNDABLE housing deposit of $200.
Medical Form: In order to receive services at Etter Health Center this form must be completed and returned. For current health related requirements, please visit the health services website: www.ship.edu/health_center/forms.
Final Transcript: A favorable admission decision is based upon the student's qualifications at the time of the offer and is contingent upon his or her maintaining those standards through graduation from the secondary school. The student must request the final transcript (including date of graduation) be sent to the Office of Admissions. Failure to submit a final transcript will result in a hold on the applicant's file.
Placement Testing: Placement testing may be required in English, reading, mathematics, and foreign language. The Placement Testing Office will provide the applicant with notification of test dates and which exams must be completed, after admission.
Register for Orientation: The Orientation programs are the first opportunity for students to become part of the Shippensburg University student body - these programs play a critical role in creating your own SHIP EXPERIENCE. Orientation is also the time when new students will create their first semester class schedules. They are held in the summer and prior to the beginning of fall semester. An orientation program is also held at the beginning of the spring semester.
Paying your Semester Bill: Your Shippensburg University bill will be provided electronically to you at myShip. You will NOT receive a paper bill in the mail. Students will receive an email, at their Shippensburg University email address, when the semester bill is available. Please contact the Student Accounts Office with any questions.
