Legacy Program

Legacy Program
Build your Ship Heritage. Make a Shippensburg University education part of your family tradition.

The Shippensburg University Legacy Program was designed to recognize the commitment of its alumni to their alma mater who support and encourage their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, and siblings to consider Shippensburg University for their higher education. A legacy student is defined as an individual whose parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt or uncle received a degree from Ship.

Legacy families make a choice to continue a family tradition by attending Ship and the Alumni Relations office takes pride in recognizing the growing number of families who have made the commitment to make Ship a part of their history and future.

So we can keep you informed of special legacy student, family, and alumni opportunities like the legacy scholarship for freshmen, reserved seating at commencement, and a special reception with the President and alumni during Parents and Family Day, be sure to complete the Legacy Form.

Investing in potential: supporting today's legacies who are tomorrow's alumni. Recipients of the SU Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship should be entering full-time freshmen with a legacy relationship. A legacy student is defined as an individual whose parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle received a degree from Ship.

To be considered, applicant must identify themselves as a legacy student and include the name of their alumni legacy(ies) and relationship to legacy on their scholarship application. The Alumni Association hosts the following for legacy families.

Family Day Legacy Pinning Program

During Parents and Family Weekend, alumni relatives of currently enrolled students are invited to a ceremony with the Shippensburg University President, the Office of Alumni Relations, and members from the Alumni Association Board of Directors to symbolically pass a special legacy pin from one generation to the next.

During the pinning program, we recognize the Raider rite of passage which pays tribute to the past and embraces the future. Plan to participate in the pinning ceremony when we honor those who followed in the footsteps of a family member and became a Raider for life. Casual attire.

The 2024 Legacy Pinning will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 10:30AM. Register to attend.

Please note: Registration for Legacy Pinning is separate from Parents & Family Day registration. Using the link above, Please register for the Legacy Pinning if you plan to attend this activity.
