Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

R.C.I.A is more than just classes, it's a journey into the Catholic faith, an experience of education, discernment, prayer and liturgy for all who are interested in becoming Catholic or, for Catholics who haven't yet received Sacraments beyond Baptism. HOME DINING
Monthly on a Sunday afternoon, students gather at the home of Richard and Roxanne Dennis to assist with preparations for a homecooked meal. Six residents from the South Mountain Restoration Center, Fr. Joseph Carolin and a Center Activities staff person transport the guests to the Dennis home to enjoy dinner, and fellowship with the students and Campus Ministers. PARTNERS IN MINISTRY
Paid Ministry Program
An 8 -week (3 hours/week) PAID ministry experience for college students who will visit selected debilitated, aged persons and develop a one-to-one relationship with them. Students visit residents one night a week either on a Monday or a Tuesday night from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The program is offered at the beginning of each semester and is held at the South Mountain Restoration Center (A PA Department of Public Welfare operated facility serving approximately 135 elderly citizens of the Commwealth). There's an opportunity for carpooling and, there are a limited number of spaces available.

SILENCE OF MARY HOME
The Silence of Mary Home is a very special home located in the Allison Hill section of Harrisburg.This lay-based mission, run by Susan and Veronon Rudy, provides sanctuary, food, and a family structure with stability and moral and Christian values to homeless and at-risk teens.
Once each semester, Catholic Campus Ministry & the Newman Association offer students the opportunity to visit the home and to provide assistance via food and clothing drives for the needs of the homeless. Coats, Nearly new clothing, towels, sheets, blankets, laundry and dish detergents, dryer sheets, toiletries and canned food are always in need.
You may contact Roxanne Dennis for dates and times of the next trip or, to make a donation. You may also volunteer your time or send monetary donations directly to the Silence of Mary Office, located at 20 Erford Road, Suite 302, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
The Silence of Mary Home is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, interdenominational organization. They operate with an all volunteer staff and are fully funded through donations. Ms. Sue also says "We pray a lot!"
MARCH FOR LIFE
January is the month we recognize the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. For over many years, Christians have worked to restore the basic right to life, which the late Pope John Paul II said was the foundation for all other rights in society. Each year Catholic Campus Ministry joins forces with many others in the "March for Life" in Washington DC each January. CHILDREN'S PARTIES
In October, Newman Association & other Shippensburg University students sponsor a Halloween Party for the children at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish and, Shippensburg's Head Start Program. It's held at the Shippensburg University Spiritual Center where children enjoy dinner with their parents, costume judging, crafts, games, and more!
