The Communication/Journalism department of Shippensburg University came together Tuesday, Nov. 15 for an evening of pizza, games, and fun.

With finals fast approaching, the Communication/Journalism social was just what the faculty and students needed to relax and let loose before the end of the semester. The C/J social was held in the Ceddia Union Building (CUB) multipurpose room (MPR) from 4–6 p.m. Chartwells School Dining Services catered the event providing pizza, cookies, and refreshments. WSYC, the student-run radio station, DJ’d the event.

Many attendees took advantage of the games set up in the middle of the room. Students and faculty watched in amusement as the students, and even a few professors, flicked Frisbees back-and-forth across the room, trying to knock over their opponent’s bottle.

Other students used the social as an opportunity to meet up with professors and faculty to sit down and have casual conversation.

“The relationship between students and faculty in the C/J department is what sets our program apart from other college's communications programs,” says Heidi Marino, a graduate assistant for the Communication/Journalism department. “The C/J students are building long-lasting relationships with their professors and that’ll benefit them as they apply for jobs and for their entire career thereafter.”
