    Continuing Education - Extended Studies

    The mission of the Office of Extended Studies is to develop and offer quality credit and non-credit courses that meet temporary educational and training needs of the region. Currently the Department of Counseling offers a Post-Master's Certificate of Advanced Studies in Counseling, a Post-Master's Certificate in Couples, Marital and Family Therapy, and a Post-Master's Certificate in Adlerian Counseling. Alumni who need to earn graduate credits for Act 48 credits, licensure, or certification, or who desire specialized training may contact the Office of Extended Studies at (717) 477-1348 or at this website

    Graduate Certificate in Couples and Family Therapy (Post-Master's Certificate)

    This is a two-year program designed to provide specialized training in couples and family therapy for working mental health professionals. The program embodies an integrated, systemic perspective that focuses on the relationships between people within the family and on their relationships with the larger community. The program is concerned with the problems that arise out of these relationships as well as the positive resources that they can provide. Click here for more information, please visit this website.

     Mental Health Institute

    The Mental Health Institute is held each spring at the university, providing counselors in the community with an entire day of training. CEUs and ACT 48 Hours are provided to participants along with lunch. Announcements and registration forms will be sent via U.S. mail to previous attendees and current site supervisors.

    Central Penn School Counselor Institute

    The School Counseling track of the Department of Counseling & CSP is excited to invite you to our annual institute for school counselors. We welcome you to participate in two timely presentations related to school counselor identity. Questions may be e-mailed to Andy Carey at: alcare@ship.edu
