Information for faculty participants

Winter Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony
11 a.m., Dec. 12, 2015

Winter commencement programs are Dec. 11 for graduate students and Dec. 12 for undergraduate students. The graduate ceremony is 7 p.m. in the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center and the undergraduate ceremony is 11 a.m. in Heiges Field House. Information on the graduate ceremony is available by contacting Brian Johnson at Following is information for those who plan to participate in the undergraduate ceremony:

  • Faculty Participation: The Commencement Committee invites faculty to participate. College deans will poll department chairs to determine the number of faculty participants to provide an accurate count of required seats.
  • Cap and gown: Faculty members who wish to order academic regalia are asked to contact the University Store at ext. 1600 from on campus or 477-1600 from off campus.
  • Diploma presentation: If a next of kin is graduating, you may want to present the undergraduate diploma cover personally to your son, daughter, spouse or other relative. If you wish to do so, please send a note with the graduate’s name and college no later than Dec. 4 to Dr. Peter M. Gigliotti at
  • Guest admission: No tickets are required for general admission to the program. Faculty who wish to bring a guest may obtain a ticket for reserved seating from the Office of University Communications and Marketing, ext. 1201. Deadline to request tickets is Dec. 4
  • Guest arrival: Doors to the field house arena will open at 9 a.m. (or earlier in the case of inclement weather) for guests. Light refreshments will be available in the arena. Please have your guests arrive in time to be seated by 10:15 a.m.
  • Robing: Please use the lobby entrance to the field house. Faculty will assemble by 10:30 a.m. in the locker room areas. Women faculty will robe in the Lady Raiders locker room. Men will robe in the main men’s locker room. The platform party, administrators, special participants, etc. will robe in the Red Raiders locker room.
  • Academic procession: The academic procession will form at 10:45 a.m. and start promptly at 11 a.m. The mace bearer will lead the processional followed by the graduating class, faculty, trustees and administrators, and then the platform party.
