Ticket allocations set for May 11 graduation
Based on the
current number of participants in the undergraduate commencement ceremony May 11,
we have set the number of tickets each graduate will receive if the ceremony is
forced indoors due to inclement weather.
The outdoor ceremony is 11
a.m. in Seth Grove Stadium and no tickets are needed for that ceremony. If
inclement weather forces the ceremony indoors, we will have two programs in
Heiges Field House. Members of John L. Grove College of Business and the College
of Education and Human Services will participate in the 11 a.m. ceremony, and
members of the College of Arts and Sciences will participate in the 3 p.m.
ceremony. The decision to move indoors will be made by President Ruud as soon
as feasible, but no later than 7 a.m. May 11.
Graduates in the 11 a.m.
ceremony will receive seven tickets each. No extra tickets are available for
this ceremony. Graduates in the 3 p.m. ceremony will receive six tickets each.
Approximately 188 additional tickets are available for this ceremony and will
be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum of two
additional tickets per graduate.
are available to pick-up at The University Bookstore beginning at noon May 1 until
the close of business (6 p.m.) on Friday, May 10. At that time they will
be taken to the CUB information desk area where they will be available at the
will-call desk through graduation on Saturday, May 11. Store hours are Monday,
May 6 through Thursday, May 9, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, May 10, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
and Saturday May 11, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The additional tickets for
the 3 p.m. ceremony will be available beginning May 3 in the bookstore.
All tickets must be picked up
by the graduate. To get your tickets, graduates must present their student identification and
sign a form that acknowledges they received your tickets. Please remember that
tickets do not guarantee a specific seat, just entrance to the arena. We ask
that all guests be seated 30 minutes before the start of either ceremony.
We know that as exciting as
the day is, it can also be stressful. To reduce possible stress, we ask that
arrangements be made between and among family members for distribution of
tickets prior to the start of the ceremony.
LOST TICKETS WILL NOT BE REPLACED AND ONLY TICKET
HOLDERS WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE FIELD HOUSE.
Alternate viewing sites will
be available and no tickets are needed for entrance to these sites, including
in the CUB. In addition, the ceremony will be broadcast off-campus via the
Comcast cable system on Channel 21 in the Shippensburg area.
Also, this is a reminder graduates
should make arrangements for seating for guests with special needs via e-mail to SUnews@ship.edu by Friday, May 3. Please
include the guest’s name and the name of one person who will sit with him/her,
if your guest will use a wheelchair, and your college. An interpreter (signer)
will be at the ceremony. If the ceremony is indoors, individuals who are using
handicap seating are REQUIRED to
have a ticket, and those tickets are part of your allocation. The request MUST be made by the graduate from his or her ship.edu e-mail address.
