The 3-8 Math Anchors and Common Core in Daily Practice (OES212)

The introduction of the Math Anchors and now the Common Core as assessment benchmarks raised many questions about their alignment with daily teaching practice.

During this workshop, grade appropriate algebra, number and operation, and data analysis and probability activities aligned to the Math Anchors and the Common Core will be shared, completed, and discussed. Using multiple representations as a vehicle for differentiating instruction and making connections, both mathematical and real world, will be the focus of the discussions. The Math Anchors and the Common Core will also be reviewed.

Participants will receive hand-outs of the activities, kits of manipulatives used in the activities, and an Anchor Alignment Grid for the activities to facilitate immediate use.
