Judith L. Achuff Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for sophomore or junior geography earth science majors who best exhibit several traits which were characteristic of Judy: outstanding academic achievements - GPA of 2.8 or better, academic improvements, personality, leadership, and college and community involvement.

Advantica Computer Science Scholarship Program

The Advantica Computer Science Scholarship is awarded to a full-time computer science major who has achieved junior status (60+ credits prior to the first semester during which they benefit from this scholarship.  The recipient must agree to complete a paid summer internship at Advantica (between the sophomore and junior years).  Recipient must have at least an overall 3.0 grade point average at the start of the first semester during which they benefit from this scholarship.

John M. and Shirley Aichele Scholarship

Recipients must have graduated from a high school located in Derry Township, Dauphin County, PA or from Lower Dauphin High School (Dauphin County, PA).  Recipients must be transfer students accepted for admission at Shippensburg University who have completed at least one (1) year of study at Harrisburg Area Community College.  Recipients must have a minimum SAT score of 1100 and have achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) at Harrisburg Area Community College.  The scholarship may be retained for up to three (3) years when meeting minimum GPA and credit requirements.

Dr. Elaine J. Anderson Science Education Majors Scholarship

The student recipient for this award must have been nominated by the student's respective science department.  Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students in secondary science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Environmental Education or Physics) who are Teacher Education candidates who have completed the core subjects in Teacher Education for certification purposes and are completing their student teaching experience.  Recipients must have achieved at least a 3.8 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).  Additionally, recipients must have excelled in the classroom during their coursework, as evidenced by their classroom participation, collaboration with fellow students, and creativity in assignments.

Arnold Logistics, LLC, Scholarship/Internship Program

This scholarship/internship is awarded to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Supply Chain Management and Operations in the John L. Grove College of Business.  The recipient must have achieved sophomore status (30 credits) prior to the first semester during which they benefit from the scholarship and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).  Applicants must agree to complete an official, compensated internship with Arnold Logistics during the summer semester of the junior year of another semester as mutually agreed to by Arnold Logistics, LLC, the respective Department Chair, the Internship Coordinator for the John L. Grove College of Business, and each recipient.  Each recipient must register for at least one (1) internship credit with the John L. Grove College of Business.  Recipient must be registered for internship credit during the time in which they are completing the internship experience.  This scholarship may be retained by a recipient for the junior and senior class standing years provided they complete 12 credits per semester, remain enrolled in the Supply Chain Management and Operations major, maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each academic year, and completes an internship with Arnold Logistics, LLC.  The internship will occur at a time that is mutually agreed upon between Arnold Logistics, LLC, and the recipient.

Nancy Kelley Ashton and Mildred Jarrett Kelley '16 Memorial Music

Must be a full-time incoming or currently enrolled student pursuing a minor in music.  Recipient must have graduated in the top fifth of his/her class.  Currently enrolled recipients must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above.  This scholarship may be retained for up to four consecutive academic years provided the recipient completes 12 credits per semester, minors in music and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Dr. Mohandas Baliga Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship if for juniors enrolled in undergraduate programs administered by the Government Department.  Grade point average and letters of recommendation are taken into consideration.

Frances M. Banks Memorial Scholarship Fund

For full-time second-semester freshmen or sophomore with 12 credits per semester.  Recipient must be a student of the Academic Success Program (I.e., the ACT 101 Higher Education Equal Opportunity Program).  Recipients must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Gladys L. Bender Memorial Scholarship

Recipients must be full-time undergraduates junior or seniors in good standing at Shippensburg University with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).  Student employees of the Shippensburg University Bookstore will receive first preference for this book fund scholarship.  If no employee of the Shippensburg University Bookstore qualifies, students employed or engaged in volunteer service elsewhere within the Ceddia Union Building will be considered as prospective recipients.  This scholarship is non-renewable.

The Stephen A. Bumgarner Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to a member of the Shippensburg University football team with no more than two years of athletic eligibility remaining and who has satisfactorily completed 60 or more undergraduate credits. The recipient should be a student athlete who, as a role model, inspire others to do their best and promotes the type of team unity that carries beyond his playing days. The recipient is someone who has demonstrated leadership both on and off the playing field, inspirational character, and perseverance. This scholarship is not renewable.

Wilbur O. Carthey Achievement Award 

This award is presented annually to one or more outstanding second semester sophomore majors from the College of Education and Human Services.   Recipients are chosen for their scholarship and professional qualities.

Dr. Paul F. and Elizabeth Hoffeditz Cauffman Scholarship Fund

This award is presented annually to one or more students in secondary education mathematics who excel in the discipline, have applied for professional standing, and have a 2.9 or higher GPA.

Anthony F. and Valerie Ceddia Leadership Endowment

Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student at Shippensburg University.  Recipient must have demonstrated leadership within a campus organization during the early part of his or her campus experience.  If awarded to a junior, this scholarship may be retained for a second consecutive academic year provided the recipient remains a full-time student at Shippensburg University and continues to demonstrate exemplary leadership within the campus community.

Class of 1908 -  Earle H. Schaeffer Scholarship Award 

This scholarship is for a full-time student who has completed his or her sophomore or junior year with an interest in teaching.

Class of 1933 Scholarship

For a needy education major who has completed the sophomore or junior year. 

Class of 1972 Scholarship Award 

This scholarship is presented to a needy and deserving student who is enrolled in any of the schools of the undergraduate curriculum.  Recipient shall have achieved Junior standing at the time of the award, therefore, the student may be a member of either the junior or senior class.  Transfer students are eligible.  Recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Dr. Max G. Cooley Scholarship Fund

For full-time students actively pursuing a business education at Shippensburg University (B.S. in Ed.) program with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0.  Candidates must have achieved junior status prior to receiving this scholarship.  This scholarship is renewable for the recipient's senior year provided they maintain the required GPA and remain enrolled in the business education program.  Candidates must have the recommendation of at least one faculty member within the Business Education and Office Administration Department.

Harold and Helen Crouse Business Scholarship Award 

This award is presented to an undergraduate student enrolled in one of the majors in the John L. Grove College of Business who has completed no less than sixty credit hours of study.  The recipient must have attained an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 and a grade point average in his/her major of at least a 3.0.

Harold and Helen Crouse English Composition Scholarship

This scholarship is to aid a student who has a demonstrated financial need and has shown improvement in writing skills in a freshman composition course.  The English Composition committee will select the writer of the most distinguished essay to receive this scholarship.

Harold U. Crouse Memorial Geoenvironmental Scholarship

Recipient must actively pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Geoenvironmental Studies within the Geography/Earth Science Department.  Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 within their major and must have achieved junior status (60+ credit hours completed) prior to receiving this scholarship.  This scholarship is renewable for the recipient's senior year provided they maintain the required GPA and remain enrolled in the Geoenvironmental Studies program.  Graduates of Shippensburg Area School District or its successor will have first preference for this scholarship.

Cumberland Valley Society for Human Resource Management Scholarship

Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students within the John L. Grove College of Business who will complete the Human Resources Management concentration within the Management degree program.  Recipients must have achieved junior status (60+ credit hours completed) prior to the first semester during which they benefit from this scholarship and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.  First preference is given to active members in the Shippensburg University Society for Human Resource Management Student group and who hold membership is the Society for Human Resource Management, an international organization.  Any student who has already received this scholarship during a given academic year is not eligible to receive it a second time.  The awarding of this scholarship is any given academic year is contingent upon the receipt of the associated charitable contribution(s) from the Cumberland Valley Society for Human Resource Management.

Dean David and Margaret Dolbin Residence Life Scholarship

While benefiting from this scholarship, recipient must be serving in at least his or her second semester as an undergraduate Residence Assistant and have satisfactory academic standing as defined by Shippensburg University.  In the event that a recipient of this scholarship is a Residence Assistant in a subsequent year, he/ she will be given the same consideration for this annual scholarship but not given any preference over other eligible students.

The Catharine H. Ellenberger Scholarship Fund

For full-time graduate students in the Counseling program at Shippensburg University pursuing a Master of Education degree.  Students in the Master of Education degree curriculum in counseling may specialize in Elementary School Counseling or in Secondary School Counseling.  This scholarship may be retained provided the recipient if a full-time graduate student enrolled in the Counseling program at Shippensburg University pursuing a Master of Education degree specializing in Elementary School Counseling or in Secondary School Counseling.

The Fogelsonger Scholarship

For full-time students in an undergraduate degree program administered by John L. Grove College of Business.  Recipient must demonstrate intent to pursue a career in the insurance industry.  Applicants who have completed or are enrolled in the Risk Management and Insurance (FIN321) course, or any other insurance course offered at Shippensburg University, will be given priority consideration.   Secondary consideration will be given to any applicant who has completed a business internship in the insurance field.  Recipient must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.  This scholarship is awarded on an annual basis without any provision for retention in subsequent years.  If awarded to a student prior to his/her senior year, the recipient may reapply for the scholarship but will not be granted priority consideration.

Jack Ford Scholarship

For full-time graduate students within the Shippensburg University's Department of Geography/Earth Science.  Must have at lease 6 graduate credits to complete during the semester(s) during which he/she will benefit from the scholarship.  Recipient must submit a resume and written application that documents his/her academic performance, research activities, community involvement, character, and the demonstration of leadership and initiative.

Dr. Donald Froiland Professional Development Award

Recipient must be a graduate student in the Counseling program in their final semester, preparing to graduate.  Recipient must be actively seeking employment in his/her field and attending a College Student Personnel conference.

Giant Food Stores Business Administration Scholarship-Internship Program

This scholarship-internship is for full-time undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Recipients must have achieved junior or senior status prior to the first semester during which they may benefit from this scholarship.  Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.  Applicants must agree to complete an official compensated internship with Giant Food Stores.  This scholarship may be retained by a recipient provided they meet minimum credit and GPA requirements.

Jane G. Goss Field Hockey Scholarship

The recipient must be a member in good standing of the Shippensburg University field hockey team and must meet applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility regulations. The recipient will be a junior with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) after the completion of at least five semesters at Shippensburg University.

Hall Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to full-time students living in off-campus housing and not with their parents. Academic requirements as mandated by Shippensburg University. Financial need is considered in the selection process.

The Herr Study Abroad Scholarship Fund

Applicants must be full-time Shippensburg undergraduates who have successfully completed at least thirty(30) academic credits and who intend to participate in Shippensburg University's Study Abroad program.Applicants enrolled in a degree program within the John L. Grove College of Business will be given first preference. When applicable, secondary preference will be given to qualified applicants who graduated from the Carlisle Area School District. Applicants must have achieved a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be considered for this scholarship. Prospective recipients shall apply for this study abroad travel scholarship through the office of Shippensburg University's Director of Study Abroad.

Renetta F. Heiss Scholarship

Recipient must be a junior enrolled as a Business Information Systems or Business Education major.  This award is based on academic excellence and promise of success in the discipline by the student.

Hershey Foods Corporation Scholarship / Internship

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student within the John L. Grove College of Business at Shippensburg University.  Applicants must have achieved junior status prior to the first semester during which they benefit from this scholarship.  Recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to be considered for this scholarship.  Recipient must agree to complete an official, compensated internship with Hershey Foods Corporation.  This scholarship may be retained for a second year provided he/ she meets minimum credit and GPA requirements.

Joan Hilkert Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to a junior majoring in government or public administration who demonstrates academic excellence and promise of professional success.

History Department Scholarship

Recipient must be full-time student enrolled in an undergraduate degree program administered by the History Department.  Recipient must have completed at least 60 credits and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 prior to receiving this scholarship.

The James Properties, Inc. Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to upper-class full-time undergraduate students with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.  Applicants must reside in a property managed by James Properties, Inc. If there are no applicants that meet the above criteria, this scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time freshman that resides in the Commonwealth of PA.  Recipients must have a minimum SAT score of 1100 and graduate in the upper 10% of their high school class.  Financial need is considered and applicants are required to complete the FAFSA.  This scholarship is renewable for 3 years if awarded to a full-time upper-class recipient provided the recipient remains a resident of a property managed by James Properties, Inc., and maintains a 3.3 GPA at the end of each academic year.  If awarded to a full-time freshman, this scholarship may be retained for 4 consecutive academic years provided they remain a full-time student and maintain a 3.3 GPA at the end of each academic year.

Juvenile Justice Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to junior and senior administration of justice majors demonstrating a sincere interest in the field. Financial need is considered.

Paul G. Kaiser Athletic Scholarship Fund

A recipient must be a member in good standing of the Shippensburg University men's or women's track &field and/or cross country teams and must meet applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility regulations. A recipient should demonstrate good character and citizenship.

Michael Kretschman Memorial Theatre Scholarship

Recipient must be an undergraduate student who has achieved sophomore status prior to receiving this scholarship.  Candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.  Recipients must demonstrate an ongoing dedication to the theatre in the area of production or performance.  Candidates are required to complete the FAFSA.

Dr. Louise Lienemann Chemistry Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a junior chemistry major demonstrating academic excellence and an interest in pursing a graduate degree. Character, citizenship, and a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale are factors in selecting the recipient. This scholarship is renewable for the recipient's senior year provided the required cumulative grade point average is maintained.Mark Lipper Journalism Award This scholarship is presented to communication/journalism majors who have achieved senior status and a minimum grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates must also be active in extra-curricular journalism activities and submit a 400-word letter outlining their career ambitions.

Mark Lipper Journalism Scholarship

Recipient must be a Communication/ Journalism major who will be a senior when receiving the award.  Recipient must have a 3.2 GPA within their major and demonstrate financial need.  Recipients must submit a letter of recommendation from a current faculty member of Shippensburg University's Communication/ Journalism Department, be active in extra-curricular journalism activities and submit a 400 word letter outlining their career ambitions.

Rick Marlin Memorial Swimming Scholarship

This scholarship is presented annually to a member of the Shippensburg University Men's Swimming Team. The recipient must have demonstrated leadership, loyalty, and dedication to the improvement of Shippensburg University's swimming program.

Richard E. and Phyllis J. Marshall Scholarship

Recipients must be enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences with preference given to the following majors:  English, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics or Physics.  Only sophomores, junior or seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above are eligible.  Recipients should be legal residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and citizens of the United States of America.  This scholarship may be retained by a recipient provided they meet minimum credit and GPA requirements.

Albert A. Mason, Sr. Journalism Award

This scholarship is presented to a sophomore or junior majoring in journalism who has maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in his/her major and has been active in extra-curricular activities associated with his/her field of study.

Mathematics/Computer Science Upperclassmen Academic Achievement Scholarship

Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in the Mathematics/Computer Science Department. Recipients must have achieved junior status with an overall grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.

Carl A. Naugle Family Graduate Fellowship

This fellowship is available to full-time graduate students pursuing a Master of Science degree in either college student personnel work or college counseling. Recipients must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale in their undergraduate degree.

Benjamin S. Nispel Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a senior enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences who has a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale provided outstanding service to the Shippensburg University campus community.

PSECU Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to an upper-class student who is a member of the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union. The recipient must demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

Dr. Craig W. Oyen Memorial Research Scholarship

Recipients must be pursuing a degree within the Geography/ Earth Science Department and be either: a) an undergraduate student who has successfully completed at least 30 credits before benefiting from this award, or b) a graduate student.  The following factors, which reflect the characteristics and traits that were evident in Dr. Craig W. Oyen, will be considered in the selection process: a) striving for academic excellence, b) demonstration of leadership, c) evidence of an interest in field study and research activities, and d) ideally, possess a strong interest in geology.  Recipients will be given preference in the following priority order: a) students who will be taking part in a geology-oriented field studies/ research course or giving a geology-oriented presentation at a professional conference and b) students who will be taking part in a geography-oriented field studies/ research course or giving a geography-oriented presentation at a professional conference.  This scholarship is not renewable.

Patti Rees Memorial Scholarship Fund

The recipient must be a member in good standing of the Shippensburg University football team and must meet applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility regulations and financial aid requirements.Students enrolled in the elementary education program within the Teacher Education Department will be given first preference in the selection of recipients for this scholarship. Recipients must also demonstrate good character, citizenship, and the ability to inspire others.

Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Scholarships

Reserve Officer Training Corps ROTC) Scholarships are available at Shippensburg University.  It pays tuition, fees, $300 per semester book allowance, and a stipend starting at $250 per month.  Contact Major Gene Mizdail) at (717) 477-1896 for additional information.

Dr. Robert N. and Mary Louise Richards Football Scholarship Endowment Fund

This scholarship is presented to a recruited member of the Shippensburg University football team who demonstrates good character; citizenship; leadership, both on and off the playing field exhibits a strong work ethic and possesses a winning spirit.

Rupe-Stuart College Student Personnel & College Counseling Scholarship for Graduate Students

Recipient must be enrolled in the College Student Personnel or the College Counseling master's degree program at Shippensburg University.  Recipient must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing as defined by Shippensburg University.  Recipient must demonstrate their focused intent to complete the master's degree coursework and required fieldwork within an acceptable period of time.

David Cleeland See Memorial Soccer Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to members of the soccer team who demonstrate academic achievement and outstanding personal character. The annual recipient shall be a returning senior with a grade point average of at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 grade scale.

Michael D. Seyfried Memorial Academic Achievement Scholarship

Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program administered by the Mathematics/Computer Science Department. Recipients must have achieved junior status (completed 60 or more credit hours) prior to receiving this scholarship and have achieved an overall grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Students who receive no other privately-funded scholarships and/or demonstrate an extenuating financial hardship will be given preference.

Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC Scholarship

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Accounting at Shippensburg University.  Recipient must have achieved sophomore status prior to the first semester during which they may benefit from this scholarship and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).  Recipients must be a legal resident of Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton or York County, PA or Allegany, Frederick, Garrett or Washington County, MD.  Recipient must agree to complete an official, compensated internship with SEKCo.  This scholarship may be retained provided minimum credit and GPA requirements are met.

Dr. Thomas Smyth Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to an entering freshman or sophomore majoring in biology who as graduated in the upper 20 percent of his/her high school class achieved SAT examination scores of 1100 or more. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years provided the recipient achieves a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 in his/her freshman year and a 3.0 in his/her sophomore and junior years.

Jack A. and Mildred Prince Squires Scholarship Fund

Recipients must have completed sixty (60) credits at Shippensburg University prior to benefiting from the scholarship. Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program administered by the John L. Grove College of Business and also must have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average(on a 4.0 scale).

Dr. Ray and Mrs. Marjorie Sunderland Study Abroad Scholarship 

For full time undergraduate students who have declared themselves a Teacher Education candidate (elementary or secondary) intending to complete the core subjects of Teacher Education for certification purposes.  Applicants must desire to complete a student teaching assignment in an educational setting outside the United States of America.  First preference is given to students studying in England, Scotland, or Wales.  Student must complete the FAFSA to be considered for this scholarship.  Each recipient must satisfactorily complete a study abroad student teaching assignment or forfeit all claims to this scholarship.

Bennie S. Truax Scholarship

Recipients who are awarded this scholarship must be in at least their second year of service on the Shippensburg University Band staff demonstrate leadership and dedication through their activities in the marching band and/or concert band. Character and citizenship are also taken into consideration.Recipients of the scholarship must have achieved an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0scale have earned 90 or more credits prior to the start of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.

"Vision for Excellence In Social Work"

This scholarship is presented to a senior receiving his/her degree from the Social Work Department. The student must have achieved professional standing within the department and possess a 2.5 overall cumulative grade point average and a 3.0 grade point average in social work on a 4.0 scale. The recipient must demonstrate leadership ability and a commitment to the profession of social work.Financial need is also taken into consideration.

Lawrence Tyson Wolfrom Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is presented to an undergraduate student who has completed his/her sophomore or junior year or a graduate student enrolled in the geography/earth science or geo-environmental program. Recipient selection is based upon cumulative grade point average (minimum of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale), personal character, and financial need.
