Profile

Dr. Williams has research and teaching interests in climatic change, conservation of natural resources, biogeography and environmental education. Past research has involved the analysis of daily temperature data in an effort to detect temperature trends in the temperature record. Most recently, she has paired with a departmental colleague to investigate the climatology of the fourteen State System of Higher Education universities. Future research will involve the climatology of heat waves and cold spells in PA. Other research will focus on environmental education and will involve a survey of departmental majors.

In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Williams maintains an involvement with her students by serving as the faculty advisor for SU's Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC) since 1993, and for the local chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), geography's international honor society, since 1997. She has also worked as a student intern faculty advisor/coordinator during the summers since 1996. Dr. Williams participates in other student-oriented activities throughout the year as well.
