Graduate Commencement Ceremony and the Reception
All graduating master's degree candidates and their guests are invited to attend the Graduate Commencement Ceremony and the Reception. The ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009, in the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center, and the reception will follow immediately after in the Ceddia Union Building.
Academic robes are required for everyone participating in the academic procession and program. You may purchase your graduation attire at the University Store in the Ceddia Union Building. We strongly recommend you make this purchase well in advance, but the University Store will be open until 7:00 p.m. on that evening for the convenience of you and your guests.
On the evening of the 18th, it will be important for you to plan to arrive no later than 6:45 p.m. and check-in at the Registration Table to pick-up your card. A sample is shown below.

Please wear your robe and assemble in the second floor lobby. Wear your cap for the processional, remove it for the National Anthem, and keep it off while you're being hooded. Replace your cap for the recessional. Your guests may sit in unreserved seats which are accessible from the first floor lobby. |
You will want to lock your personal belongings in your car before entering the building, or give them to one of your guests, or check them upon arrival. A coat check room is located in the first floor lobby of the Luhrs Performing Arts Center.
A diploma cover will be given to you at the ceremony. If you met all requirements for graduation and do not have any holds on your account, you will be able to pick up your diploma at the reception until 9:30 p.m. A photo ID card is required to pick up your diploma. Otherwise, your official diploma will be mailed to you two to four weeks after graduation. Diplomas and diploma covers will be mailed to students who are unable to attend. An unofficial copy of your transcript will be mailed with your diploma, for students who do not attend the ceremony. Official transcripts may be requested from the Registrar's Office.
