Housing Selection 2012

To be eligible to participate in Housing Selection 2012, a student must sign the 2012-2013 Housing Agreement and pay the $200 deposit before 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.  Only current residential students may participate in this process.  Returning students who miss this deadline may be placed on the Waiting List; Due to limited space on campus, once all spaces for returning students (1100 spaces) are filled, students turning in deposits/agreements will be placed on the Waiting List.; Off Campus Students may not submit a deposit at this time, but are permitted to join the Waiting List.

In some cases, students will be granted a housing deposit extension and be allowed to submit Housing Agreement prior to deposit, if there is a reason, such as financial hardship, that prevents submission of the deposit with the agreement.  This will allow a student to reserve one of the 1100 Returning Student spaces. However, if deposit is not paid by the extended date, student will not be permitted to participate in Housing Selection 2012.  Housing deposit extension may be requested at Housing and Residence Life in Old Main 210.

  • For 2012-13 full year agreement, students may complete transaction online in the MyHousing Portal (deposit can be paid via credit card or eCheck) or student may come to Housing and Residence Life in Old Main 210 (deposit can be paid via check or cash).
  • Students interested in Fall 2012 Agreement due to December 2012 graduation or Spring 2013 study abroad or student teaching, must come to Housing and Residence Life in Old Main 210 (deposit can be paid via check or cash).

The Housing Agreement is for the full academic year 2012-2013 (unless student is approved for Fall 2012 Agreement – special permission required).  Submission of agreement and deposit (up to 1100) reserves a space in campus housing; location is not guaranteed.  The University reserves the right to make room assignments, temporary assignments, consolidate vacancies by requiring resident to move and reassignments.  Deposit is non-refundable.  Housing Agreement cancellation deadline is 11:59 pm on July 1, 2012.

The following living options are available:

Note: All living options, except apartment housing, will close for Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Breaks.  A meal plan is required in all residence halls (traditional and suite); a meal plan is optional in apartment housing.

Suite Housing, Honors Suite Housing, Apartment Housing and Health Living Community require submission of an application.  Applications not submitted by the deadline and/or with ineligible students (students not currently residential students or residential students who fail to sign agreement and pay deposit) will not be considered.  Applications will be processed in credit order.  Priority will be given to group applications which will fill a given room, suite or apartment.

Remaining Housing will be selected via online lottery in credit order.  Priority will be given to matched roommates, who will fill a given room.  Individuals will be able to pick after groups.  Individuals may be consolidated with other unmatched individuals, possibly to a different room.

It is recommended that all students enter lifestyle, building and roommate (if any) preferences, so information is available if reassignment becomes necessary.  However, it is imperative that all students electing not to self-select a room enter preferences, so assignment can be made by Housing and Residence Life.  Preferences will be honored to the extent possible based on available space.  Deadline to enter preferences is 11:59 pm on March 7, 2012.

All returning student assignments will be posted online by 12:00 noon on March 27, 2012.  It is important that students review assignment to identify any possible errors and to see changes necessary due to consolidation.    New Students and possibly Waiting List Students will be allowed to select spaces shortly after this date (It becomes much more difficult to address concerns once additional students began picking).  Any concerns should be brought to the attention of Housing and Residence Life immediately.

During Housing Selection 2012 (February 7-March 27), a student may participate in multiple selection processes.  For example, a student may apply for suite housing and if that application is not successful, the student may subsequently apply for apartment housing or select a room during the traditional hall lotteries.  However, once a student makes a housing selection it cannot be changed during Housing Selection 2012 (February 7-March 27).  If a student has changed his/her mind after initial selection, immediately after assignments are posted is the time to contact Housing and Residence Life to see if an alternate option is available.
