PROCEDURES FOR STONE RIDGE COMMONS SELECTION

Application forms for Stone Ridge Commons will be available at all residence hall desks and in the Housing Office from January 18th through January 27, 2011. These applications must be returned, to the Housing Office, 210 Old Main before noon on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at noon. The completed application will be checked to determine accuracy of earned credits and campus housing semesters.
All roommates of the same gender will fill out One Stone Ridge Commons application form. Be sure your name does not appear on more than one form as this could disqualify your application(s). Students currently living off campus are not eligible for Stone Ridge Commons Housing until they have been permitted to sign a housing agreement by the Director of Housing. A waiting list for campus housing is available in the Housing Office in Old Main Room 210. CIRCLE THE NAME OF ONE REPRESENTATIVE FOR YOUR GROUP. If your request for Stone Ridge Commons cannot be honored, you will then be eligible for Seavers or for a room in a traditional residence hall by signing a housing agreement and making a housing deposit January 24 - February 4, 2011. The successful applicants will be notified by SU e-mail Monday, January 31, 2011 by 1:00 p.m. Applicants must have signed a full year housing agreement and pay a $200 deposit by Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. to secure the apartment. NO one-semester contracts will be approved for Stone Ridge Commons Housing. Any application form that does not have ALL applicants paid will be rejected.
Students presently residing in Stone Ridge Commons with a minimum of 2 or more residents who resided in Stone Ridge Commons during Semester I of 2011-2012 will be given preference. Current qualified enrolled resident students will be given preference over officially admitted, readmitted, or off campus students.
All apartments are non-smoking.
Students who have been approved for one-semester agreements for 2011-2012 will not be considered for Stone Ridge Commons. Any questions should be referred to Barry McClanahan, Director of Housing, at Ext. 1240.
Stone Ridge Commons housing will only be available according to the University academic calendar (from August 24, 2011, through May 7, 2012). No housing will be available at Stone Ridge Commons during the summer months.
All residents of Stone Ridge Commons for 2011-2012 MUST use University-provided furnishings.
These furnishings are listed on the Stone Ridge Commons Application and on the Housing Office web site at www.ship.edu/~housing. The University and Stone Ridge Commons do not have any facilities available for storage of personal property or furniture.
If any member(s) of the group have special physical needs (such as wheelchair access, hearing impairments, etc.), please contact the Director of Housing at 477-1240.
Stone Ridge Commons will be available as follows:
One-bedroom apartments - housing two students in the bedroom of the apartment (only applications with two applicants will be accepted.) Cost for this premium will be 1 1/2 times the University room rate plus a built-in fee for utilities. There are only 3 apartments of this bedroom style available.
Two-bedroom apartments* - housing two students in each bedroom of the apartment (Applications with either two or four applicants will be accepted with preference given to groups of four.) Cost will be equal to the University room rate plus a built-in fee for utilities.
There are 51 apartments of this bedroom style available.
Four-bedroom apartments* - housing one student in each bedroom of the apartment
(Applications will be accepted with one, two, three, or four applicants.) Cost for this premium will be 1 1/2 times the University room rate (single room rate) plus a built-in fee for utilities.
There are only 6 apartments of this bedroom style available.
*Applicant groups may be combined by the Housing Office to fill all available bedroom spaces.
The room fee for Stone Ridge Commons includes local phone line service, cable TV access, and Internet access. No voice mail is provided. An additional built-in fee is charged per student per semester for utilities (gas, electric, water, and sewer). Residents are not required to take a meal plan.
Priority for acceptance of application forms:
Groups of four resident hall students with a minimum of 2 as of Semester I, 2010-2011 Stone Ridge Commons resident
Groups of four resident hall students according to the group's total number of cumulative credits and number of total semester lived in campus housing.
Groups of two resident hall students who are returning to Stone Ridge Commons from Semester I, 2010-2011.
Groups of two resident hall students according to the group's total number of cumulative credits.
Individuals applying for the one-person, four-bedroom apartments according to the person's total number of cumulative credits and campus housing semesters. Present campus residents will have preference.
All groups will be assigned an apartment by the Housing Office.
The University reserves the right to make room assignments, temporary assignments, consolidate vacancies by requiring residents to move, and reassignments.
