Laptop Cart with 40 Laptops for Finance: GRH303  

40 Laptops and a cart to address the issues of growing class sizes and also provide a portable technology solution for students in the Finance department. The cart provides security and charging for the laptops when not in use. It also allows for ease of transportation of the laptops.

This portable Mediasite recorder supports the increased demand for audio/video capture and/or streaming of videoconferencing classes, capture of classroom lecture for placement on D2L, and capture/streaming of sporting and other campus events by SU-TV.

Enhancement of Videoconferencing Facility Equipment: GRH401 

The replacement of very old outdated videoconferencing equipment in GRH401, to allow for the standardization of this setup with the other videoconferencing facilities around campus, and support the expansion of distance education courses offerings by the MBA program.

15 Android Tablets for Management Information Systems: GRH302 

15 Android Tablets to be used in the Network/E-commerce lab for App development in various Management Information Systems classes, enabling students to gain better programming skills through developing mobile e-commerce apps, increase their knowledge of networking & client/server computing, and learn a new mobile operating system (Android).

Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) Placement and Rework Station: MCT163 

This station is used in conjunction with the equipment already implemented in the PCB fabrication lab by students in the Computer Engineering program.  The station consists of a split-view microscope with a spot heater and vacuum which allows for the attachment of BGA parts as well as fine-pitch and ultra-fine pitch QFP packages to printed circuit boards.

Electroplater: MCT163 

An electroplater used in conjunction with the equipment already implemented in the PCB fabrication lab by students in the Computer Engineering program.  This piece of equipment allows for accurate creation of plated through holes, resulting in fewer manufacturing defects than the alternative process that they had been using.

Enterprise System Development Environment 

The leasing of cloud computing space on Amazon’s EC2 infrastructure to support the addition of enterprise development to the course work of students in the Software Engineering program.

Replacement of 12 Audio Production Workstations: CUB/RLH207 

These 12 computers replace the older equipment currently being utilized in the audio studios in RLH207 and the CUB studios of WSYC-FM, functioning as the primary instructional facilities for audio production within the Comm/Journ department.

23 Laptops, a cart and software to establish a mobile computer lab in DHC to facilitate the effective teaching of multiple HCS courses that predicate heavy and comprehensive use of communication technologies.  The cart provides security and charging for the laptops when not in use.  It also allows for ease of transportation of the laptops.

Digital Fine Art & Design Printing Initiative: HAC310 

The Digital Fine Art & Design Printing Initiative consists of Image Workflow, ICC Paper Profiling, Printer Profiling, Camera Raw, Color Correction and Balance, Light Temperature and Neutral Gray Exposure, Pre Print Image Preparation and Print Production Protocols, which become integrated into the Computer Design (Graphics Design) courses coordinating the use of print technology within the Art& Design Department.  These two Digital Fine Art & Design Printing stations, each consist of a Mac Pro computer, 27" NEC monitor, X-Rite i1Publish package, X-Rite i1Display Pro, ColorBurst Overdrive RIP software, Adobe CS6 Design Premium software, and an Epson 4900 HDR printer.

Technological Enhancement of Psychological Skills Training: HH128, HH310 

Enhancement of professional skills training (interpersonal interviewing and crisis intervention skill sets) for students, through the use of educational tools involving the audio video recording of practice interviews and individual and group interactions for the collection, analysis, and presentation of appropriate clinical techniques.

The replacement of 12 older computers plus the addition of a printer in the psychology department’s new enhanced technology teaching lab in the FSC 127 (A-L) research cubicles.

Grove SUTV Studio Camera Replacement: GRH008 

Replacement of the 3 antiquated TV cameras in the Grove Studio with new equipment to aid in the transition to Digital and High Definition to allow the curriculum in the comm/journ department to keep pace with industry standards and practices, creating highly qualified graduates.

Integrating iPad Mobile Technology into Field and Lab-based Science Courses: SRH202, FSC230 

30 32GB iPad 3Gs, 2 Lockable iPad Travel Cases, 1 Cart for iPads, 1 MacBook Air 11" Laptop, 30 Protective Cases, Apps for iPads, Cables/Adapters, 10 Stylus Pen triple packs, and 1 Solar Panel Portable Charger, used to introduce mobile technologies into lab and field-based classes in the Departments of Biology and Geography-Earth Science.  This serves to prepare students to use these technologies in the future and provide them with invaluable skills, as the use of emerging mobile technologies and embedded tools has significantly augmented the ways geoscientists and field biologists collect and disseminate field-based data.  The cart provides security and charging for the iPads when not in use.

Short-Range Unmanned Aerial System 

A short-range UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) for use in various Geography and Earth Sciences courses including Field Techniques, Remote Sensing, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems), as well as in the Meteorology and Introduction to the Atmosphere courses.  The UAS provides students with a cutting-edge yet low-cost solution for demonstrating and learning how aerial mapping missions are planned and how new types of remotely sensed data are acquired and processed, as well as introducing a new range of technical topics including: GNSS navigation; mission planning; principles of aerial imaging; and photogrammetric applications.  Students in general education courses that address weather and climate systems would also be able to analyze multi-dimensional weather data (temperature, pressure, humidity, location, elevation and time).

Provides students in the Geography and Earth Sciences department with opportunities to learn image processing skills and to handle historic map documents.

Digital Web Publishing Lab CMS Support: RLH206 

Support for a content management system (CMS) to be shared by the communication/journalism department and The Slate, the university’s student-run newspaper and online news service, to host The Slate’s website, providing students the opportunity to enhance their writing, editing, and audio and video production skills as they relate to Web information production.

iPad Lab for PreK-4 and Middle Level Education: GBL020   

30 16GB iPads with a cart and apps, Otterbox cases, a Tablet Trolley case, and a MacBook Air to sync them, for use by students for flexibility in planning lessons, using the technology with students in real work situations (field placements), and providing access to the technology in the university based lab school, Grace B. Luhrs.  The cart provides security and charging for the iPads when not in use.

Basic Physics Lab Interface Upgrade 

The upgrade of 10 existing PASCO 750 interfaces to PASCO 850 interfaces for use in the basic physics laboratories used by all students taking a laboratory-based physics course.

2 New Electronics Testing Stations: FSC214 

The addition of 2 new electronics testing stations to augment the existing 8 electronics testing stations in the physics department.  Each lab station consists of an oscilloscope for visualizing signals on the board, a multimeter for measuring voltage and amperage, a function/sweep generator for testing signal propagation, and a powered breadboard for connecting test components.

Spectrofluorophotometer with Computer and Controlling Software: FSC230 

Allows students to trace groundwater and contaminant flowpaths in the environment, study cellular processes, enzyme activities, nutrition, and a broad array of other applications where naturally fluorescent or tagged molecules can be followed with extremely low detection limits (nanogram to picogram per liter concentrations).  With this instrument being so broadly useful for sensitive analysis of processes from the cellular to ecosystem level, multiple subdisciplines of the life and environmental science programs at Shippensburg University are strengthened by its available use.

Fluorescence Microscope with Dedicated Digital Camera and Computer: FSC006 

Allows students the opportunity to practice the technique of fluorescence microscopy, a key technique in cell and molecular biology that allows the detection of protein molecules, DNA and cellular organelles stained with specific fluorescent tags, replacing existing outdated equipment with a new system including a new microscope and fluorescence excitation light source with a highly sensitive, low noise cooled ccd camera.  The camera uses computer software that provides a multifocusing/image reconstruction technique (Z-stacking) that constructs sharp images of samples, a time lapse photography mode, and creation of composite images using different filters to detect different molecules.

Computer for Bio-Rad iMark Microplate Reader: FSC132 

Replacement of the outdated computer that interfaces with the Bio-Rad iMark Microplate Absorbance Reader, which allows individuals to rapidly obtain spectrophotometric absorbance readings for multiple small (microliter) samples, generally carried out in a 96 well format.

2 iS5 FT-Infrared Spectrometers with Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR) attachments and PCs: FSC334 

Replacement of outdated existing Thermo-Nicolet Avatar 360 FT-IR system no longer supported by the manufacture, with two new Nicolet iS5 FT-IR with ATR instruments for the organic chemistry laboratory.  Provides students with access to instrumentation routinely used in industrial quality control and research and development labs, as well in academic and governmental labs such as forensic labs, to determine what types of bonds are present in a molecule.

12 Sartorius Student Model pH Meters: FSC308 

The addition of 12 Sartorius student model pH meters for use in the biochemistry teaching lab, due to increased demand of the existing departmental pH meters among various courses simultaneously.  Allow students to measure the acidity of a solution, and maintain the acidity of a solution of biomolecules to keep them stable within a very narrow pH range corresponding to physiological pH.

Replacement of Digital Shaker/Incubator: FSC308 

Replacement of an existing non-functional incubator/shaker with a new MaxQ-4000 incubator/shaker combining a digitally controlled rotatory shaker (15-500 rpm) with a digitally thermostated heating unit (≤ 60˚C) used for growing bacterial cultures.

10 Spectronic 200 Student Model Spectrophotometers: FSC308 

The addition of 10 Spectronic 200 student model spectrophotometers for use in the biochemistry teaching lab, due to increased demand of the existing departmental spectrophotometers among various courses simultaneously.  Allow students to detect the absorption of light by molecules correlating to the concentration of the molecule of interest present in the sample, allowing for quantification of the molecule of interest through combining a light source, a monochromator and a photomultiplier detection system to adjust incoming light to a specific wavelength.

TEMPLOS and MOTUS Upgrade: HG105 

The upgrade of existing software to analyze human movements. The Motus software allows for live caption video and force plate data either individually or collectively via a synchronizing unit. Once the data have been captured, the software processes the data so it can be analyzed using the reports feature in the Motus v9.2 software.

Monark Wingate Cycle Ergometer with Software: HG105 

A second Monark Wingate Cycle Ergometer with software for the exercise Science department to perform anaerobic power tests and rate of fatigue. The system can be self-regulated with "weight basket" braking system, and possesses an electronic display which measures RPM, heart rate, time, speed and distance.

Digital Timing System: HG105 

A digital timing system which uses infrared photocells attached to a multifunction timer, allowing up to four photocells to collect times simultaneously during various movement tasks (i.e. 40-yard dash, sprints, etc.). This allows students to analyze the acceleration or deceleration phase of a sprint by setting up multiple photocells during the movement, or measure gait velocity for both 8 m and 20 m using one test with the digital timing system.

Provides students with online access to psychological tests, measures, scales, surveys, and other assessments as well as descriptive information about the test and its development and administration.

Subscription to JSTOR Collections IX & X  

Augments the University’s current JSTOR subscription, which provides students with online access to electronic archives of academic journals over a wide range of disciplines in Arts & Sciences, Business, and Education & Human Services, by adding about 300 journals in social sciences and business.

Subscription to Cambridge Structural Database (CSDS) and Software  

Provides students with access to a database of over 600,000 X-ray crystal structures of molecules and provides software to interpret and view the molecular structures.

Subscription to HeinOnline Database  

Provides students with access to a database of more than 1,600 law and law-related periodicals.  In addition to its collection of law journals, HeinOnline also contains the Congressional Record Bound volumes in entirety, complete coverage of the U.S. Reports back to 1754, famous world trials dating back to the early 1700′s, legal classics from the 16th to the 20th centuries, the United Nations and League of Nations Treaty Series, all United States Treaties, the Federal Register from inception in 1936, and the CFR from inception in 1938.

Smart Classrooms for Human Communications: DHC312, DHC310, DHC308 

Provides updated carts and other equipment required by the Smart Carts for enhancement of the Smart Classrooms in a number of rooms in the Human Communications department.  Project originally included equipment in DHC302, 310, and 314, but on renewal equipment was moved to DHC312, 310, and 308 to accommodate student needs.

Enhanced Technology in Video Conferencing for Media Services: GRH006 

The AMX master controller system allows for more automated room setup, allows for the monitoring of the video signals (from cameras and document cameras).  This setup is more user friendly to the presenters and distance education classes.

Auto Digitizing  Motus 10 plus Templo Software for Exercise Science: HG105 

Allows for state of the art movement analysis and data acquisition during biomechanical and motor learning activities. This software integrates with the Digital Force Plate providing a 2D analysis of data.  This also facilitates student driven research projects in both research design and statistics courses.

Computer Lab for Computer Science: MCT165  

This computer lab provides 26 workstations and software licenses for lab use by students in the Computer Science department. Students complete laboratory exercises that include teaching programming concepts and provide tools for experimentation and visualization of those concepts. The goal is to demonstrate the application of technology to solving computer programming problems through course content.

 General Use Computer Labs for Lehman Library: ELL017, ELL119 

42 workstations split between the tables up in the Library Circulation area in ELL119, and down in the lower level in ELL017, allows for larger groups of students to use state of the art graphics software implemented on the computer lab machines. The addition of Dreamweaver, Photoshop Elements, and Adobe Acrobat helps students with their learning outcomes.  This project is the compilation of 3 old projects, combined into one  improved services to the students.

Laptops and Cart to serve as mobile Computer Lab for Math: MCT251  

These laptops are for lab use by students in the Math department, providing a portable technology solution.  The laptop cart provides security and charging for the laptops when not in use. It also allows for ease of transportation of the laptops.

Enhancement of Geography software for Geography: SRH001, SRH005 

Business analyst is a product that combines the analytical capabilities of GIS with business, demographic and consumer data.  ERDAS HEAK is a program used in conjunction with remote sensing and imaging courses.  The addition of this 25 seat license helps students use industry standard tools.

This imaging system and associated computer is essential for student-based research.  Students are able to receive valuable hands on experience with commonly used biochemical and molecular techniques.  The images generated by the system are necessary for proper recording of experimental data.

Provides 25 web cams for student teachers to enhance the communication and interaction between students, mentors, and their college supervisor.  This assists in facilitating better/faster and more frequent communication and sharing of methodologies between students.
