How to Submit a Manuscript
Any undergraduate student at one of the PA owned universities may submit a manuscript to KJUR. To be eligible for publication, the research must have been mentored by a state system faculty member. The work must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word (.doc) or Rich Text Format (RTF) format. Manuscripts submitted as PDF files will be accepted for review purposes but final copy must be as a .doc or RTF format. No other format will be accepted. Manuscripts must follow the General Guidelines and adhere to the instructions provided in the Instructions to Authors [PDF]section or the manuscript will be returned to the authors without further review.
The Submission Form requires the following information before the form will be accepted:
- Title of the research manuscript
- Primary student author’s name
- Primary author’s email address (must be one provided by university)
- Primary author’s expected graduation date
- Academic discipline of submission
- Faculty mentor's name, university, department, phone number, email address
- Check-off if IRB or IACUC approval was received
To assure anonymity during the review process, the cover page of the manuscript must include only the title of the article. The subsequent pages should have no references to the authors or the institution with whom the authors are associated. There should not be any Acknowledgments in the manuscript; these will be added to the document if the manuscript is accepted for publication.
Mentors must submit the Submission Form, and the Approval Form to the Campus Editor before the manuscript will be reviewed. The the lead student author and the faculty mentor will receive a confirming the of receipt of the forms by e-mail.
The Campus Editor will submit the completed forms and the manuscript to the KJUR Editor-in-Chief when they are satisfied that the manuscript meets basic quality and format expectations. The Editor-in-Chief will forward the manuscript to the appropriate Discipline Editor for review and editorial comments. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two faculty scholars in the field. If the manuscript is selected, it will be scheduled for publication after all modifications, including galley approvals, have been received.
Deadlines
Submissions can be made at any time, but there are deadlines associated with each issue. These deadlines are typically six months prior to any issue publication date. See the KJUR Call for Papers on thehome page for specific deadlines.
