Free Tutoring!

The Learning Center provides free tutoring for all students enrolled at Shippensburg University. Our tutors are dedicated to helping students through one-on-one tutoring and small group sessions to develop independent learning strategies and assist in content support in most general education courses including math, English, sciences, social sciences, modern languages, and a number of other subjects.

Tutors at the Learning Center include both undergraduate and graduate students who maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Our tutors work toward College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification and are highly trained and capable of helping students achieve their learning goals.

Working with a peer tutor offers a number of benefits. Tutoring can:

• Facilitate your academic success through active learning strategies
• Improve your self-reliance and academic confidence
• Give you a variety of effective study strategies that are subject specific
• Provide you with opportunities for collaborative learning with both tutors and fellow students
• Offer you a chance to clarify difficult material prior to taking exams

Scheduling an Appointment

Tutoring is available Monday through Thursday 10am- 9pm and Sunday evenings 5pm-9pm.

To schedule an appointment with a tutor, call (717) 477-1420 or stop by the Learning Center, located on the main floor of the Lehman Library.

After scheduling an appointment, you will want to make sure you are prepared for your session by bringing materials that will help make the session more productive. You should bring along textbooks, lecture notes, assignments, syllabus, and any other related course materials to your tutoring session.
