Record Group 6
Students

Scope and Content

The records of the Students group include student organizations and clubs spanning from 1874-2009. The records are arranged in series by type of organization or by committees within an organization (Student Senate). The original file order established was kept as much as possible. However, the record group contained many files in mislabeled folders and contained some organizations that were not student run. Files that did not relate to Student were removed for arrangement elsewhere. Bound copies of Student Senate minutes are kept beside the file boxes due to space limitations.

The files contained include minutes, budgets, accounting records, brochures, advertisements, newsletters, publications, news clippings, ribbons, programs, constitutions, policies, surveys, correspondences , and other records of student clubs and organizations. Materials are added to this collection periodically.

The collection is particularly strong in the Student Senate file. This series had the most material and provide information on the running of the organizations, campus wide policies, and university expenditures. Within this series, correspondences between faculty and students are particularly important in following trends and gaining information on events of the time. The collection also contains information on many clubs and student groups and publications by students such as Facets and Write On.
