University Expands Scholarship for Valedictorians Statewide
Shippensburg University is expanding its Valedictorian Board of Governors Scholarship so talented students in all of Pennsylvania's 67 counties have another reason to make the smart choice to attend Shippensburg.
The scholarship, established during the 2007-08 academic year, was originally for students in six counties adjacent to the university. Effective immediately, valedictorians at every high school in Pennsylvania are eligible for the $5,000 scholarship. Fifteen scholarships are available.
"By expanding the scholarship to all high schools in Pennsylvania, additional outstanding students will have the opportunity to attend Shippensburg and the funds will allow them to focus on their dreams and to excel," said University President William N. Ruud. "One of Pennsylvania’s greatest strengths is its higher education system that provides motivated and dedicated students with the chance to earn a degree and to become future leaders of the Commonwealth and beyond."
Each scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as students meet appropriate academic requirements, maintain a minimum quality grade point average of at least 3.0, and earn at least 12 credits per semester.
