Accomplishments of SU faculty, employees
Following is a list of presentations, awards, honors and other achievements
by or to Shippensburg University faculty and other members of the campus

- Dr. JAN ARMINIO, professor and chair of the Department of Counseling and
College Student Personnel, was lead author in an article published in the
March/April volume of About Campus titled "The Professionalization of Student
Learning Practice: An Ethos of Scholarship."
- Dr. KARIN J. BOHLEKE, director of the Fashion Archives and Museum, presented
the paper "Mummies are now called upon to contribute to fashion: Or; Hints
respecting dress from the Ancient Egyptians in the Nineteenth Century" at the
National Symposium of the Costume Society of America May 27 to 31 in Phoenix.
- Dr. PETER M. GIGLIOTTI, executive director for University Communications
& Marketing, was guest speaker May 8 at a pandemic planning event for
businesses sponsored by the Cumberland County American Red Cross at Volvo in
Shippensburg.
- Dr. PHILIP W. HENRY, director of counseling services, recently completed
reviewing a research article on quality of life measures of families with
disabled children for the Journal of Family Social Work. Dr. Henry is also a
member of the journal's editorial board.
- Dr. IAN M. LANGELLA, associate professor of supply chain management,
recently accepted a position on the editorial board for the International
Journal of Business Processes and Supply Chain Modelling. He also served as an
invited session chair at the annual conference of the Production and Operations
Management Society where he presented a co-authored paper on sustainable network
design. The paper was accepted and published in the conference proceedings.
- Dr. SUSAN RIMBY, chair of history and philosophy, will serve as a
Commonwealth Speaker for the Pennsylvania Humanities Council during 2010 and
2011. She will speak on "Pennsylvania Women and the Progressive Conservation
Movement" to various groups in Pennsylvania including county historical
societies and public libraries.
- Dr. BILL RUUD, president, recently completed reviewing "Higher Education
Leadership Competencies: Quantitatively Refining a Qualitative Model" for
publication in the Journal of Leadership & Organization Studies.
- Dr. DENNY TERRELL, vice president for administration and finance, has been
selected to review studies sponsored by the National Academies of Sciences for
the Academies.
- Three members of the University Police department participated May 16 in the
National Law Enforcement Memorial Week 5K Run. Participating were Chief CYTHA
GRISSOM, who placed second in her age group, and Officers BRYAN RUTH and PAT
TAYLOR. Also participating for the SU team was alumna Sharon Gelwicks.
