Pomeroy chairs I-81 Corridor Coalition committee
Dr. George Pomeroy, interim director of Shippensburg University's Institute for Planning and Research and Office of Sponsored Programs, is chairing a committee in connection with the Interstate 81 Corridor Coalition.

The coalition, which recently held its third annual conference in Roanoke, Va., involves elected and appointed officials from federal, state, and local governments, as well as private sector organizations and interested non-profit entities, according to information from the office of the Cumberland County Commissioners. It seeks to integrate and synergize transportation infrastructure, land use, and economic development decision making to more effectively utilize scarce public resources and promote the health, safety and welfare of citizens in the corridor.
Pomeroy, who is also a faculty member in the geography-earth science department and director of the university's Center for Land Use, is chair of the local governance committee.
The university is also hosting the coalition website. More information about the coalition is available by visiting the website at www.I-81coalition.org.
