President Ruud presents checks to fire companies

Shippensburg University President William N. Ruud presented checks Nov. 12 to representatives of the three Shippensburg fire companies.

Each of the companies, Cumberland Valley Hose Company, Vigilant Hose Company and West End Fire and Rescue Company, received a $4,000 contribution that was approved by the university's Council of Trustees. In addition, Vigilant Hose Company also received a $5,000 donation toward purchase of its 2005 Emergency One Rescue Fire Engine. It is the part of the university's 10-year commitment to support the purchase.

Trustees approved the $4,000 contributions in recognition of the valuable contribution to campus safety and welfare made by the companies.
