Shippensburg University SBDC to host programs in
July
Shippensburg
University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host two programs in
July.
The
SBDC program provides no-cost confidential consulting and low cost training in
proven management fundamentals helping small business owners and potential
entrepreneurs make sound decisions for the successful operation of their
business. Shippensburg’s center serves Adams, Cumberland Franklin and York
counties.

The programs are:
- July 17 at Shippensburg University: “Interviewing Skills for Hiring
the Right People.” The course will provide participants with the important fundamentals of good
interviewing. Participants will prepare themselves to interview a prospective
employee by identifying the necessary skills and the type of personality that
will fit best in the company. They will also examine the guidelines for
interviewing candidates, researching references, handling difficult candidates,
evaluating candidates, choosing objectively and appropriately following up with
all interviewees. Course activities also cover understanding the laws regarding
interviewing and selection-equalemployment
opportunity, pregnancy discrimination, disabilities, and immigration status-and
functioning within their parameters. Registration ends July 10.
- July 19
in York: “Project Management Essentials
for Second Stage Growth Companies.” By understanding the fundamentals of
project management, participants will be better prepared to initiate a project
in your organization and position it for success. Registration ends July 12.
