Social work program ranked by national publication

A national publication ranks Shippensburg University’s master of social work program among the best in the nation.

U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 edition of Best Graduate Schools ranks the university’s social work program as number 148.

According to the publication, the rankings were based solely on the results of peer assessment surveys sent to deans, other administrators, and/or faculty at accredited degree programs or schools in each discipline. All schools surveyed in a discipline were sent the same number of surveys. Only fully accredited programs in good standing during the survey period are ranked. Those schools with the highest average scores appear in the rankings.

Dr. Deborah F. Jacobs, professor and chair of the social work and gerontology department, said, “The faculty in the department who teach in the MU-SU MSW program are pleased to have been recognized for their hard work and commitment to high quality graduate level social work education for residents of South Central Pennsylvania.
