Programs to focus on healthy eating
Shippensburg University is co-sponsoring “A Community Adventure in Healthy Eating” with a kickoff event Feb. 12.
Guest speaker at 6 p.m. in the Tuscarora Room in Reisner Dining Hall is Dr. Elizabeth George, a Mercersburg physician who has spearheaded Community Healthy Eating Adventures throughout the area. That program is free.
Her talk is followed at 7 p.m. with dinner in the Tuscarora Room. Cost for dinner is $10. To make the required reservation for dinner, contact Abbey Brotzman at 717-477-1123 ext. 3586 or via email at Abbey.Brotzman@compass-usa.com.
The 28-day program, also open to the public, includes a program on Feb. 19 with a “Train Your Kitchen” session; weekly potlucks from Feb. 26 through March 19; and a “Celebrate Success” graduation dinner March 26.
Last year, more than 175 people attended the opening lecture and dinner, and during the program more than 900 plant strong dinners were served in Reisner.
