Author to discuss Emily Dickinson March 5

Despina L. Crist, author of “Emily Dickinson: Goddess of the Volcano,” will discuss her book at 3:30 p.m. March 5 at Shippensburg University.

Tbookcoverhe event, including a book signing, is open to the public and is in room 106 of Ezra Lehman Memorial Library. A display of selected books about or by Dickinson from the library collections will go on display in the library lower level Feb. 25.

Crist, whose book is a biographical novel, will talk about Dickinson’s experiences, passions, and creative development. Crist was born in Greece and after high school she realized that to fulfill her potential she had to go to the United States. She earned her bachelor's degree in English and education at Morris Harvey College. 

She is the author of critical works, short stories and two novels, including Nostos and the novel she will discuss in her presentation. She previously lived in Carlisle and now lives in Pittsfield, Mass.
