Children’s Fair set for April 5 at Shippensburg University

All area children and families are invited to attend the 32nd Annual Children’s Fair from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 5 in Heiges Field House at Shippensburg University.

The event, sponsored by the university’s Volunteer Service Office, is to foster a good relationship between the university and the off-campus communities

All activities are designed for children ages 1 through 12. Promotional flyers, distributed to all area elementary schools, double as coupons for a free 25-cent game ticket. Each game requires at least one 25-cent ticket. In addition to refreshments, balloons, and prizes, the fair will offer games, entertainment and educational displays. Proceeds from all booths are used to cover the cost of games, prizes, supplies and decorations for the following year’s fair.

To go along with this year’s theme of “Under the Sea,” new prizes and decorations are planned. Artwork by students at the Grace B. Luhrs University Elementary school and the Bartos Child and Family Center will also be displayed at the fair. Some of the games and activities scheduled include face painting, octopus ring toss, tie-dye and a duck pond. A bouncy house is also being added this year.

Entertainment will be provided by the Shippensburg German Band, the Shippensburg Middle School Jazz Band, and Tillie the Clown. Participating organizations include the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation, MOMS Club of Shippensburg, SHAPE, the American Trauma Society, Chambersburg Lions Club, Phantom Shadow, Shippensburg Fire Department and the Shippensburg Public Library.

Fair organizers also thank the Shippensburg University Bookstore, Shippensburg Giant Food Store, Shippensburg Wal-Mart and The Beistle Company for donations to the fair.
