National magazine ranks Shippensburg University among the best in the North

US News Shippensburg University is once again ranked among the top universities in the North by U.S. News & World Report as part of its annual rankings. In its book, "America's Best Colleges 2010," Shippensburg is tied for 77th among all institutions in the North region. The university is also ranked 23rd in the region among only public universities.

"Earlier this summer we received the wonderful news that the university was re-accredited for 10 years by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education," said President Bill Ruud. "The news that we are again ranked among the best universities in the North, especially the best public universities, is yet one more compliment to this outstanding institution. Our ability to maintain this recognition is a testament to everyone and to the high standards to which we hold ourselves."

Shippensburg is in the "Universities-Master's" category in the U.S. News rankings and is among 572 universities in the category nationwide. Data was gathered from and about each institution in 15 areas. The indicators related to academic quality include peer assessment; student retention; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; and alumni giving rates.
