Shippensburg University’s Office of Professional, Continuing and Distance Education (PCDE) provides teachers the opportunity to earn 1-3 graduate credits by attending the 2016 Spitz Institute.
EDU 497 Special Topics: Spitz Institute
This course provides teachers enrolled in the 2016 Spitz Institute with the opportunity to apply the principles of the academy in their school and classes and to earn 1-3 graduate credits, based on the needs of individual participants, from Shippensburg University. Participants who submit the "after-Institute assignments" to the university on time will have their work graded on a letter grade system basis by Dr. Christine Royce, Professor and Chair of the Teacher Education Department in Shippensburg’s College of Education and Human Services. Participants who successfully complete the work will be awarded 1-3 graduate credits and an official transcript from the university as evidence (up to three transcripts are available at no cost).

Registration Information & Costs
To start the registration and payment process, follow these steps:
Step 1: To indicate your interest in receiving credit from Shippensburg University for the Institute, please complete this
Institute Interest Form
Step 2: Once the university has received your online interest form, you will be sent an email that provides directions to a) complete Shippensburg University's non-degree application form, b) pay the $15 application fee, and c) activate your Shippensburg University email account.
Step 3: Once the university has processed your non-degree application form (step 2 above), the university will a) register you for the class, and b) send you billing and payment information via your Shippensburg University email account.

|Dr. Christine Anne Royce is a Professor in and Department Chairperson for the Teacher Education Department and co-director for the MAT in STEM Education program at Shippensburg University. She is an Educator Astrophysics Ambassador for NASA Education and Public Outreach program coordinated by Sonoma State University. She will be coordinating the credit part of the course.|
Students will be awarded a final letter grade (on a pass/fail basis) in EDU497 from Shippensburg University once the faculty member evaluates the student's work; all work must be received by the faculty member by September 2, 2016. Students may request an
official transcript from Shippensburg University at
/registrar/requesting-transcripts2/. A $3.00 charge per transcript will be assessed for any requests totaling more than three.
