SPN490 Selected Topics: Clearing a Path: Using Lessons from History to Move us Forward

Shippensburg University’s Office of Professional, Continuing and Distance Education (PCDE) provides teachers with the opportunity to receive either graduate credit or non-credit continuing education units for participating in Travel & Education’s course Selected Topics: Clearing a Path: Using Lessons from History to Move us Forward during Summer 2018 in Spain.

Teachers may elect either of the following options:

  • 3 graduate-level credits and an official transcript, for a total cost of $546 for PA residents and $591 for out-of-state residents.
  • 3.75 non-credit continuing education credits (CEUs), a hard-copy certificate, and a digital badge, for a total cost of $30

Graduate Credit Option

To obtain three (3) graduate credits, individuals must a) complete Travel & Education’s Clearing a Path: Using Lessons from History to Move us Forward course, b) complete Shippensburg University's brief online interest form, c) complete Shippensburg University’s online non-degree application form and pay an application fee of $15, d) pay the Shippensburg University course tuition/fee of $546 for PA residents and $591 for out-of-state residents, and e) submit a culminating assignment related to the study abroad experience and application of the lessons learned to teachers’ classroom settings, as specified by Shippensburg’s faculty member. 

Three (3) graduate-level credits will be awarded to students who successfully complete all of these requirements on a letter-grade basis. 

Upon completion of the Shippensburg University course students may request an official transcript from Registrar Office - Requesting Transcripts

Non-Credit Option

To obtain 3.75 non-credit continuing education credits (CEUs), a hard-copy certificate, and a digital badge individuals must complete Travel & Education’s Clearing a Path: Using Lessons from History to Move us Forward course, and complete Shippensburg University's online non-credit registration form, and pay the Shippensburg University non-credit registration fee of $30.

Registration Information

To start the registration and payment process, please follow these steps: 

Step 1: To indicate your interest in receiving credit or non-credit from Shippensburg University.

Complete Interest Form

Step 2: Once the university has received your online interest form, you will be sent an email that provides directions to a) complete Shippensburg University's online non-degree application form or b) complete Shippensburg University's online non-credit course form.

Step 3: Once the university has processed your non-degree application form or non-credit form (step 2 above), the university will a) register you for the class, b) send you information from the course instructor regarding the culminating assignment and requirements, and c) send you billing and payment information via your Shippensburg University email account

To be eligible for either the credit or non-credit option, individuals must register as specified above no later than June 28, 2018.
