Parking Information

 Parking Regulations

 Q. How much are parking permits and when will they expire?
A. The cost for all student parking decals is $75.00 for the first decal; additional decals for the same student are $10.00. The cost for all faculty and staff parking decals are $1.00 for every decal purchased. Permits are valid from September 1 of each year to August 31 of the following year. Parking decal purchases are nonrefundable.

Q. What type of decal do I get?
A. Commuter students will receive a C-Decal; this will permit you to park in the Commuter Parking Lots. Resident students who have obtained at least 60 credits will receive a R-Decal; this will permit students to park in the Resident Parking Lots. Freshman and sophomore students will be issued a "Storage Parking Only" decal. The Storage Lot, or the General Lot are the only places you can park 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Faculty will receive a F-Decal. Staff will receive a S-Decal. Contractors will receive a contractor decal. Visitors will be issued a visitor parking pass. Cars with Commuter "C" decals and Resident "R" decals may park in Faculty and Staff parking areas after 6 p.m. until 3 a.m. only, unless otherwise posted.

Q. Where can I pay my parking tickets?
A. Parking tickets, with remittance, can be mailed with the envelope provided to the University Police Department, paid at the Police Department, or paid online. The department is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In addition, payment may be placed in the ticket fine boxes which are located on campus.

Q. What time can I park without a parking permit?
A. Parking permits are required 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Weekend visitors require parking permit as well.

Q. Where can I purchase a parking permit?
A. Faculty, staff and students who will be parking vehicles on campus will be required to register those vehicles for parking decals online.  After completing the process, faculty and staff members must bring their university ID card, along with payment, to the University Police Department.  They will then be issued their parking decal(s).

Students, after completing the online process, will have the option to purchase their decals online as well. After registering, students must then bring their student ID, operator's license, vehicle registration and proof of vehicle insurance to the University Police Department.  If they have not paid for the decal in advance online, they must provide payment along with the above documents to the police department and they will then be issued their parking decal(s).  They will also be provided with information and instructions on where they are permitted to park.

Q. May I purchase a permit for just one semester?
A. Parking permits are for the entire college year and are not sold by semester.

Q. May I transfer my decal to another vehicle?
A. Decals are not transferable from one vehicle to another.

Q. Do I have to place my decal on my bumper?
A. Parking decals must be permanently affixed either to the right rear bumper or a to metal bracket which is permanently attached to the right rear of the vehicle. Decals may not be displayed in the rear view window.

Q. If a friend comes to visit me, do they need a parking pass?
A. Yes, they must register their vehicle with the University Police, located in the Reed Operations Center. This department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for your convenience. All visitors will be assigned a lot in which to park.

Q. How do I file a parking ticket appeal?
A. Violators may appeal their parking ticket by filling out an appeal form provided by the police department within 120 hours (five days) after the violation. The appeal will then be reviewed by the Director of Public Safety and a decision will be sent to the violator. Appeals not resolved by the Director of Public Safety may be forwarded to the University Parking and Appeals Committee, at the request of the violator. The Appeals Committee decision will be final.

Q. If I am a freshman or sophomore student who has to park in the Storage Parking Lot 24 hours a day, how do I load my vehicle to go home?
A. If you have large items to place in your vehicle or to unload from your vehicle, you must call the University Police and inform the that you will be parked in front of your residence hall while you are loading or unloading your vehicle. You will be permitted 15 minutes to load or unload your vehicle. If you receive a parking ticket while loading or unloading and did not call the Police Department, you will be responsible for the payment of the ticket.

Q. How many parking tickets can I receive?
A. You can only receive (5) parking tickets during the entire college year. If you have (3) unpaid tickets, your vehicle will be booted. The boot will not be removed from your vehicle until all tickets are paid. Once you have (5) or more paid or unpaid parking tickets, you will also have your vehicle booted. If you receive two boots during the college year, your parking privilege will be taken away for that college year. You will not be allowed to operate a vehicle on the University property during this time. If your vehicle is located on the campus, it will be towed.
