Harrisburg Area Community College Memorandum of Understanding Signing
We live in an ever-changing world, but one aspect that never changes is the importance of education in everyone’s life.
Ship and Harrisburg Area Community College have a long history of collaboration and today’s agreement is another link in efforts by both institutions to provide quality education for students in Central Pennsylvania.
This agreement is especially important because it allows students in HACC’s honors program to continue their educational dreams through a seamless transfer into Ship’s honors program.
Under the agreement, HACC honor students who transfer to Ship will receive the same opportunities for financial assistance such as scholarships, as well as other opportunities such as priority scheduling. They will truly become part of the Ship family when they transfer.
At Ship, the honors program admits about 40 new students annually. Currently, our program has about 150 students representing majors from throughout campus.
Among the goals of our honors program are:
To actively engage and challenge students for a lifetime of intellectual growth
Expand their intellectual horizons beyond the classroom through undergraduate research, study abroad programs, and internships
Provide opportunities for students to initiate and participate in service projects that strengthen their civic engagement
We look forward to having HACC’s honors students continue their education at Ship and I promise that we will continue to provide the excellent academic programming and support services to them that HACC offers all its students.
