Developing a Proposal
Faculty and academic staff are encouraged to discuss their proposal ideas and budget requirements with the Institute for Public Service prior to the development of a grant application.
Our website is intended as a quick reference guide that provides basic information for faculty and staff preparing grant proposals. It complements the Institute for Public Service Grants Handbook, which provides more detailed information. All revised and updated required forms are available at http://www.ship.edu/Public_Service/Forms/.
- All grant expenditures must be made in accordance with federal, state and Shippensburg University policies and procedures.
- Titles to materials and equipment purchased with grant funds remains with Shippensburg University.
- Projects involving human subjects in research must be approved by the Committee on Research and Human Subjects before projects are implemented.
- Projects involving animals used in research must be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) before projects are implemented.
All extramural grant proposals must be reviewed and approved by University senior staff before submission. Be sure to fill out the Clearance Form for SU Applications to External Agencies, including your department chair's signature, and submit the form to the IPSSP no later than 5 working days prior to the deadline for your grant proposal (10 working days in the case of electronic submissions, such as Grants.gov).
