Overview

Shippensburg University has contributed to the intellectual and cultural climate of the Cumberland Valley since 1871. Over the years the university has focused on teaching, research and public service and has experienced remarkable change and growth. In an effort to enhance its public service mission, the university established the Institute for Public Service and Sponsored Programs in 1983 to develop and coordinate its public service mission--focusing on the economic well being and quality of life in the region.

Shippensburg University is committed to research and public service under its mission statement. The Institute for Public Service supports this activity through its grant programs for research, scholarly and creative activities and by creating an environment conducive to scholarly achievement. The Institute for Public Service is organized to facilitate the process of submitting applications for extramural funding to conduct a variety of research, training, and scholarly activities. Office staff helps to. . .

  • Promote research and scholarly activity across campus
  • Provide assistance to faculty applying for funds
  • Foster communication between the university and funding agencies
  • Oversee institutional compliance with university and grantor policies
  • Assist with project implementation
  • Oversee project closeout

These activities are designed to support the research and public service component of the mission of Shippensburg University.
