Graduation Process

You must apply for graduation at the beginning of your final semester at Shippensburg University.  Graduation application forms and information regarding application deadlines are available by logging onto the Student Information System at info.ship.edu.  Select "Registrar", followed by "Apply for Graduation".  This link will appear on the SIS after 90 credits are earned for undergraduate students and after 15 credits are earned for graduate students.

An application fee of $25.00 for Bachelor's degree or $50 for Master's degree, per degree is required at the time you apply for graduation.  Applications for graduation are due by the end of the second week of the semester in which you wish to graduate.  August graduates who plan to attend the May ceremony prior to their actual graduation must also apply by the May ceremony deadline date.

When your application for graduation is received in the Registrar's Office, it will be forwarded to your academic dean.  Your dean's office will notify you if there are any problems with your application.  Once your dean has granted tentative approval to you application, you may view your graduation approval status on the Student Information System at info.ship.edu.

Information regarding the Commencement ceremony instructions for students, parents, and guests will be available on the homepage approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the ceremony.

Attire for the Commencement ceremony may be purchased at the University Store.  You may visit the store's website at http://bookstore.shipstudents.org/home.aspx for hours of operation and information.

Diplomas are mailed to students within six weeks after the Commencement ceremony.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you fail to meet the requirements for graduation, it will be your responsibility to reapply for the graduation in which the requirements will be met.  The application fee is good for one calendar year.

MASTER'S THESIS must be presented in its final approved format to the Registrar's Office no later than 4 weeks prior to the commencement ceremony.  Master's degree students completing a thesis may verify deadline dates by contacting the Registrar's Office.
