Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do both locations (Dixon University Center and Shippensburg University campus) offer all of the concentrations?

Response:  No.  Dixon University Center (students taking courses only at Dixon) only offers Business and Public Organizations.  All concentrations are offered at the Ship campus.

2. Can I complete the program in one year?

Response:  The program is designed to be completed in four semesters.  It is highly unlikely that the necessary courses fall into a one year schedule.  Full-time attendance equals nine (9) credits.  A desire to take more credits should be thoroughly assessed and a discussion with the program coordinator, Dr. Barbara Denison.

3. Can I get the internship component of the program waived since I have X number of years of experience?

Response:  No.  The internship cannot be at a place of current or prior employment and must be related to the student's ODL concentration.

4. Who will be my advisor?

Response:  For the duration of the ODL program, your advisor will be the program coordinator.

5. What types of jobs will the M.S. in Organizational Development and Leadership allow me to obtain?

Response:  You should be asking yourself what your career aspirations are and how a master's degree will assist in the pursuit of such aspirations.

6. Can I transfer credits?

Response:  Although the university policy is to allow nine (9) transfer credits, the ODL program allows a maximum of 6 credits to be transfered for any one concentration.  The official university policy on graduate transfer credits can be viewed in the 2010/2012 graduate catalog (page 21) at http://www.ship.edu/catalog/graduate/
