Josue's Story
NAME: Josue Santoyo
HOMETOWN: New Oxford, PA
MAJOR: Accounting
FAVORITE THING ABOUT
SHIPPENSBURG:
I would probably say the size, it’s big and small enough at
the same time.
TWO INTERESTING THINGS
ABOUT ME:
I was born in California and I enjoy writing song lyrics.
CAMPUS
ORGANIZATIONS/SPORTS/ACTIVITIES:
I am a member of the Accounting Club,
NABA (National Association of Black Accountants), Club Soccer team, Intramural
soccer, and an accounting tutor at the Learning Center.
SCHOLARSHIP:
Board of
Governors Scholarship & H.O.P.E. Diversity Scholarship. These scholarships
have been determinant in helping my parents and myself afford continuing my
education here at Ship. They have also provided me with inspiration knowing
that there are people who I may not know well, but who believe in me.
MOST MEANINGFUL
LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT SHIP:
I have gained an immense amount of knowledge while
attending Shippensburg, ranging from inside a classroom or skills I developed
while participating in organizations on campus. I am happy to say that I am a
better informed, more confident, independent, and responsible person than I was
when I started my journey at Ship.
COMMUNITY SERVICE/VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
I am participating in VITA (Volunteer Income Tax
Assistance Program) where I prepare taxes for members of the local community
during tax season.
WHAT I DO FOR FUN:
During
my free time there is a good chance you will find me playing either soccer or
FIFA.
MY
PLANS AFTER GRADUATION:
My plans after graduation are to have a full-time job
either in an accounting firm or within the accounting department of a company.
