FAVORITE THING ABOUT SHIPPENSBURG:
My favorite things about Shippensburg are my soccer team and my classes. My soccer team is like family to me. They are a great support system and we all have great chemistry. My classes that I take here are all very interesting to me and I enjoy every one of them that I am currently in and have taken. They challenge me to the best of my ability. We have great faculty here at Shippensburg and they are all extremely helpful.
TWO INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT ME:
I traveled to five European countries this past summer (2012), which included Turkey, Spain, Greece, Italy, and France. I love working out and hope to someday compete.
MY FRIENDS AT SHIP:
My closest friends here at Shippensburg are definitely my teammates on my soccer team. All of my roommates play soccer as well. We all get along extremely well and support each other in every aspect, whether it is soccer related or academic related. We are a close-knit team who enjoys spending time together and working hard on the soccer field. It is very important to me to have such a close group of friends. I know that I can rely on them no matter what. We all understand each other because we have been friends (especially my class, the juniors) since we first set foot on campus. By being on a sports team, I already had a family coming into college.
I am a member of the Varsity Women’s Soccer Team and a Captain, Psychology Club, Health Science Club, Tau Kappa, Psi Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, Tri Beta and Raider’s Serve.
I receive the Clarence Schock Scholarship. This has benefited me in a great way because it has allowed me to further my education. It keeps me working hard in the classroom to achieve greatness. It also allows me to save more money towards medical school, which can be a financial burden. I am very grateful that I have had the opportunity to be chosen to receive such a scholarship.
STUDENT RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
I conduct undergraduate research with Dr. Hale of the Psychology Department. We are currently looking at student athletes and how academic stress affects their cortisol levels.
MOST MEANINGFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT SHIP:
My most meaningful learning experience here at Shippensburg is time management. Through soccer and my academics, I have been able to become extremely successful at balancing the many aspects of my life. It is a trait and tool that will be of great use to me as I continue my education.
COMMUNITY SERVICE/VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
I have participated in the Shippensburg Elementary Big Buddy Program, and I volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
WHAT I DO FOR FUN:
I enjoy working out in my spare time, such as running and lifting weights. I spend a lot of time with my family in my spare time at home. I also enjoy pleasure reading and spending time with my friends.
MY PLANS AFTER GRADUATION:
My plans after I graduate from Shippensburg are to attend medical school and earn an MD degree.
