Enrolling in Account Self-Service

When you use Account Self-Service for the first time, take a few minutes to complete enrollment. Enrollment assures that you will be able to access your account in the event that you forget your password, your password expires, or your account becomes locked due to too many incorrect password attempts.

There are two stages of enrollment: Security Questions and Verification Code.

Enroll in both Security Questions and Verification Code to ensure that you will always have access to your account. If your account becomes inaccessible at any time, you can choose to either supply answers to your security questions or send a verification code to an alternate (non ship.edu) e-mail address that can be used to reset your password.

Click on the Enrollment tab at the top of the screen.

Note that answers to your security questions must be at least 3 characters in length. Security answers are NOT case sensitive.

Repeat this process for the remaining two questions, ensuring that you have three questions and three answers provided.

You will notice that your Ship e-mail address is entered on this screen. In the event that you need to reset your Ship password or unlock your account, your Ship e-mail account will be useless since you will not have access to it. Therefore, you’ll want to enter one or more alternate (non ship.edu) e-mail addresses into this form to which a verification code can be sent in the event that you forget your password, it expires, or your account becomes locked.

Students: Any personal e-mail addresses that you supplied on your admissions application through the myShip portal are automatically added to your account. Verify that your alternate e-mail address is correct. If it is not, make changes to the existing address and click on Update. To add an additional alternate e-mail address, click on the + symbol.

Employees: Supply an alternate (non ship.edu) e-mail address in the field provided and click on Update to add it to your account. External e-mail addresses are not stored in any other systems, nor will they be used for any other purpose.
