Welcome to Telecommunications

We provide support and services related to voice communications, voice messaging, local and long distance dialing, data wiring, cable television and related telecommunications services.

Mission

The Telecommunications Office is committed to providing high quality, cost effective telecommunications services to the University community. In an ever-changing environment such as telecommunications, small changes may have huge impacts. It is our desire to stay abreast of these changes and facilitate comfortable cost effective alternatives for our users and fiscal responsibility to the University.

The Office

The Telecommunications Director may be reached at extension 1985. (717-477-1985 from off-campus.) Concerns about operation, policy, or procedure should be directed to this office. The office is located in Old Main 102B, inside the Telecommunications Office. Normal hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Equipment

Shippensburg University owns and operates its own computerized PBX (Private Branch Exchange). The University uses a VOIP Cisco Unified Communications system. This system leverages the existing network allowing for easy expansion and moving of equipment.
