Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness

This area offers insight into the centralization of guidance, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of University assessment data. The information below includes the results of various surveys and analyses that contain measures on student engagement, satisfaction, and perception. The data also includes information on internal program reviews and assessments.

There a number of additional resources outside of what is produced by the Office of Educational Intelligence and Technology that provide additional data and analysis related to Higher Education effectiveness and assessment. Below is a list of resources commonly used to compliment and improve the richness of the analysis of Shippensburg’s effectiveness.

The National Survey of Student Engagement  annually collects information at hundreds of four-year colleges and universities about first-year and senior students' participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college.  To learn more about the report and information collected, please see the about NSSE  page.
The Common Data Set  (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report. The combined goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.
The Association For Institutional Research   (AIR) is a global association that empowers higher education professionals at all levels to utilize data, analytics, information, and evidence to make decisions and take actions that benefit students and institutions and improve higher education.
The North East Association for Institutional Research  (NEAIR) is an individual membership driven organization that promotes institutional effectiveness in postsecondary education through excellence in the field of institutional research.  As such, NEAIR focuses on facilitating the professional development of its members while promoting best practice and ensuring integrity in institutional research.
