SHRM 2014-2015

The Human Resource Management Club, a student affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) was active throughout the 2014-2015 academic year facilitating professional development workshops, networking with HR professionals and alumni, promoting the human resource management profession, engaging in civic and philanthropic events, and honing their presentation and critical evaluation skills.  Some of the highlights are listed below:

  • Held monthly professional development workshops featuring local HR professionals who shared their knowledge and expertise with COB students.
  • Sponsored an alumni event attended by five Shippensburg University Alumni now working in the field of HR.  The former HR students discussed their transition from backpack to briefcase.
  • 5 club officers attended and competed in the SHRM Northeast Case Competition in Baltimore, Maryland. This was a 2-day event involving case presentation, networking with over 100 HR professionals, and attendance at various professional development sessions.

  • Contacted local legislative representatives regarding current HR issues such as minimum wage, employment-at-will, and pay inequality
  • Sponsored a can-food drive for Kings Kettle Food Pantry and donated 5 boxes of canned and non-perishable goods.
