What Will I Learn?

Students gain hands-on experience using state-of-the- art technology, like drones and high-precision GPS receivers, to map and monitor a variety of landscape features. These technologies allow you to build GIS projects that provide powerful map products and analysis tools that support real-world management and decision-making. For example, students with interests in land use planning integrate urban, transportation, and economic geography and address environmental challenges like storm water management and urban air quality. Opportunities for collaborative research experiences and direct interaction with area professionals are enhanced by our excellent internship program, the Center for Land Use and Sustainability, and the SU campus farm.
