Policy Statement on Invocations and Benedictions
The School of Graduate Studies plays a very important and a growing role at Shippensburg University. Our programs provide the opportunity for our neighbors in the region to prepare for entry into or to ensure competence and growth in a variety of professional fields and to encourage a lifelong commitment to learning in an increasingly diverse and complex society. We hope that you will find us a good fit for your needs.
It shall be the position of Shippensburg University to support the presentation of the invocation and benediction at campus activities. The invocation and benediction must not make reference to any specific religious affiliation or ideology. The invocation and benediction must be universal and nondenominational. The participation of any Shippensburg University constituent will be on a voluntary basis for any campus activity where the invocation and/or benediction is presented.
Approved at President's Cabinet on 10/21/91.
