Shippensburg University presents awards at annual Alumni Weekend 

Eight individuals are recipients of awards presented during Alumni Weekend 2016 at Shippensburg University last weekend. 

Recipients of the Jesse S. Heiges Award are Dr. Rhonda Brunner ’93-’95M; Brad Hollinger ’76 (John L. Grove College of Business); Linda Miller ’77; and Dr. William Miller ’63. The Exceptional Service Award was presented to Dr. Don Mayer and Joel Zullinger ’70. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Robert Ecker ’58. The Alumni Humanitarian Award was presented to Dr. Mary Campbell Stewart ’85M. 

Heiges Award

The Heiges Award, established in 1959, is the University’s highest award. It recognizes the recipients’ distinguished achievements in their field of endeavor and through their work and service, contributed immensely to society. 

Brad Hollinger '76

Brad Hollinger

Hollinger is chairman and chief executive officer for Vibra Healthcare, which he founded in 2004. Based in Mechanicsburg, Vibra has more than 10,000 employees and operates more than 90 specialty acute care hospitals and outpatient physical therapy centers. He is also the founder and CEO of the Hollinger Group, a senior care company with 17 facilities in six states. In addition, Hollinger was executive vice president of the Contract Services Group of Continental Medical Systems. 

Earlier this year, a state-of-the-art stock trading room was officially named in his honor. The Brad E. Hollinger Stock Trading Room in the John L. Grove College of Business gives Shippensburg students a distinct advantage in the job market since they will be able to use Bloomberg Terminal, a Wall Street trading platform used by investment bankers and equity traders. 

Hollinger serves on the board of directors of the Acute Long Term Hospital Association and was honorary chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International of Central Pennsylvania. He served on the board of directors for the Assisted Living Federation of America and United Cerebral Palsy, the Leadership Council, and has been a Big Brother for 12 years with the Big Brother, Big Sister organization.
