How do I apply to the MBA program at Shippensburg University? 

When is the deadline for applying? 

We have rolling admissions.

What are the admission criteria? 

Undergraduate course work and degree, relevant work experience and essay, will be evaluated and form the basis for admission. To be eligible for admission to the MBA Program applicants must:

  • Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants will be evaluated on grade point average, course content, work experience, job level, leadership ability, team skills and whether they graduated from an AACSB accredited college. 
  • Present a current resume.
  • Present a goals statement.  The goals statement is a 500 word essay that answers why you want to get an MBA and why from Shippensburg University.

What prerequisites do I need before I apply?

Work experience or undergraduate credits in:

  • quantitative analysis
  • computer usage
  • oral and written communications

These areas are covered in the following courses offered at Shippensburg University:

  • Business Computer Systems
  • Basic Oral Communication

To go directly into the Upper-level MBA courses applicants must have eighteen semester hours of prerequisite knowledge in accounting, economics, finance, organizational behavior, marketing, and operations management.

What if I don't meet all the prerequisites? 

Foundation courses can be substituted for some or all of the above prerequisites

How many classes do I need to take to earn my MBA? 

The MBA Program consists of ten courses, eight core courses and two electives

How long does it take? 

The program can vary depending on full-time or part-time status.

When are classes held? 

Classes are held one day a week Monday through Thursday from 5:30-7:15 and 7:30-9:15 during the Fall and Spring Semester. During the Summer Sessions, classes are held one day a week from 5:30-9:15.

In what order should I take classes? 

  • Only MBA 593 requires a prerequisite. You must complete four MBA classes before taking MBA 593. Although the other classes do not have prerequisites, we do recommend that they be taken in a specific order. See MBA Study Plans for suggested study plans for the MBA program.

Can I transfer into the MBA program from another school? 

Yes, transfer credits are awarded on a case-by-case basis, however, so please contact us for more information.

How much is tuition?

Is the University/MBA program accredited? 

Yes, since 1981, our College of Business has been internationally accredited by the most prestigious business accrediting agency in the world, AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. We are one of only 24 schools in Pennsylvania and one of approximately 650 worldwide to have earned AACSB International accreditation. In addition, Shippensburg University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Do you accept employer-paid program applicants? 

Yes, in fact we encourage employer tuition reimbursement whenever possible and facilitate customized learning by offering teleconferencing of classes to on-site locations for the needs of a particular business.

What technological skills should I possess? 

All students must be computer literate and have routine access to the Internet and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access) in order to complete the 1/3 web-based component of the program.  Students must have access to a laptop with Microsoft Office that they can bring to class.
