Shippensburg University's AACSB-accredited Business Management, Human Resources Management Concentration, B.S.B.A. program is unique in its focus on individuals and groups of individuals integral to company success and the equitable, ethical and legal concerns involved in managing an organization’s human resources.

What are the requirements for this degree?

You will need to complete 120 credits in the following areas:

  • General education courses: All students are required to complete the university's general education program, which provides a balanced liberal arts foundation.
  • Business core courses: This core includes economics, finance, information systems, marketing, organization behavior and business law as well as other business subjects.
  • Human resource management courses: This sequence of courses provides the necessary technical knowledge with respect to tools, techniques and concepts.

Possible double majors include finance, accounting, MIS, accounting, supply chain management and public administration.

Recommended minors include psychology, computer science and technical/professional communications.

Shippensburg University offers small class sizes and plenty of opportunities for one-on-one contact with faculty members. Classes are taught by professors with both a strong theoretical and practical understanding of business management and human resource management. Our faculty have a diverse range of professional and academic backgrounds and are actively involved in HR research and HR consulting.

There are a number of clubs you can participate in to learn more about your area of study outside the classroom. Student professional organizations will provide you with a variety of opportunities to develop professional contacts, enhance your course of study with hands-on application and build lasting friendships within the business community. HR management students are strongly encouraged to join our student chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management.
