Girls' Volleyball Camp

General Camp Information

  1. All phases of the game of volleyball will be instructed during the camp by a professional staff.
  2. Each camper will be evaluated according to physical ability and level of playing experience at the beginning of the camp. Campers will be put into squads of equal level and ability for practices. The final decision for level of play will be determined by the coaches. Some players will have better athletic ability regardless of their volleyball experience and may be moved to a higher court.
  3. Players will participate in physical conditioning exercises.
  4. Swimming, outdoor basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, tennis, and much more available.
  5. Round-the-clock supervision fo each camper.
  6. Housing: Only two participants will be assigned to a room. Two sheets, one pillowcase and a pillow will be provided. No towels, washcloths, or blankets are provided. Bring a light blanket, washcloths and towels with you. Coin operated washers and dryers are available in the residence hall.
  7. Key Policy: Campers who do not turn in their room key at camp dismissal will be subject to a lock change fee (ranging from $25-$40). For security reasons, lock changes must be made immediately before the next group arrives. Keys returned after check out is not permissible. There will be no exceptions.
  8. Pre-register early. First-come-, first-served. Get applications in early.
  9. A certificate of health must be presented by each participant at the camp's registration. A standard form will be sent upon acceptance. This form does not require a physician's examination or signature. Requests for accommodations, auxiliary aids or services should be made in writing to the Office of Social Equity at least fifteen (15) days before the camp begins. The Office of Social Equity is located in Old Main 200, Shippensburg University, 1871 Old Main Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257-2299, (717) 477-1161.
  10. Things to bring: shorts, shirts, sweat pants, volleyball sneakers, socks, knee pads and swimsuit.

About the Director

Leanne Piscotty is preparing for her fifth season as the head volleyball coach of the Shippensburg University Lady Raiders. Leanne was honored, for the second time in four years, as the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Coach of the Year, after the Lady Raiders had one of their best seasons ever with a 30-12 record, going undefeated in the Eastern Division of the PSAC and earning a berth into the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time in the history of the program at fourth seed The Lady Raiders set a new school record for victories in a season with the 30-12 record after setting the record the previous year with a record of 24-13 in 2006. Piscotty was assistant coach for two seasons at Bradley University. During that time she helped produce the best single-season turnaround
in Missouri Valley history, improving the team from a 9-19 record in 1998 to a 20-6 record in 1999. A native of Shippensburg, Leanne pursued her playing career at Penn State University from 1989-1992 and was selected as an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First-Team All-American in 1991 and 1992. A two-time All-Big Ten First-Team selection, Piscotty was named Big Ten Player of the Year as a senior in 1992 and elected to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) Hall of Fame in 1993. Also in 1993, Leanne was a member of the U.S. National Team and played in the U.S. World University Games. One year later, in 1994, she played professionally in Italy.
